You understand that there are different levels to this . Some MLE eaters are elite when other mle eaters are average .

Didn’t Geoff win TV Tokyo? Against the top independent eater? Plus Joey, Miki, James and Nick have all beaten and or lost to Geoff. So I’d say the top eaters in MLE would win some. The top indies would win some

Do you think eaters have to sign a contract to participate in Nathans?

By definition, anybody not signed with MLE would be considered an “indie” eater, so there’s many more indie eaters out there than “active” MLE-signed eaters. You’ve got to admit though, the bar to be a ranked MLE eater is pretty low. Top 5 to 10 are legit eaters, I’d day the next 15 (ranks 11 to 25) are “above average”, and everything beyond that is almost comical. Like Jim Reeves is still shown as a ranked eater. Corbucci is showing as #35, when he is probably top 7 or 8 realistically. the savage Wilson is top 25…c’mon now…

In 2018, Raina Huang had to sign a contract just to do a qualifier, which she declined.

I think they have to sign to do Nathans just as OJ expressed above. A qualifier might be different depending upon the person. I do not know what is required of newcomers whose abilities are unknown.

For the MLE rankings yes agree some of the rankings after 30-40 is probably just random selection based on contest performance and how often an eater attends contests. MLE could probably drop ranking eaters after 25 or 30 since most of the general public wouldn’t know who the 33rd ranked eater is anyway. Heck most of the general public probably don’t know any eaters other than maybe the top 3 at Nathan’s

@1009a depends on how well established the eater is. If they are consistently doing well or have a large social media following then they may be asked to sign. For a food challenge eater or an eater that has won a couple local competitions such as county fair then no.

Just did this one for fun, only 4 weeks of prep after living life normally for 3 years (girlfriend wanted to see a contest live lol). Congrats to Sean! I was next to him at the table, very impressive endurance, especially in the 99 degree heat!
Good luck to everyone on the fourth, should be a great battle!

And consider me re-retired haha. Grateful for my time at the table in the MLE but different life priorities now. Lots of fun memories and friendships made, I’ll be cheering everyone on from afar on the 4th!

It was nice to meet you Gordon, and thanks for the kind words! Like I said, I’ve watched a lot of your videos and was definitely nervous based on some of your historical MLE performances 🙂 Apologies if I spilled anything on you or Conti during the qualifier.
It was definitely a hot one out there last Saturday, hoping it’s not as bad on the 4th.
