I thought that PC technology had improved to the point where we would not have to be subjected to frame by frame and freezups. I thought that was for people that still had dialup The cam froze on me with 3 or 4 minutes left. This is worse than the Jet Raider Heidi game in 1968

word is that the krystal people were working on the camera but could not fix it in time. I still love them as no one else is even trying to do this. the previous numbers came from Bubba

Todays webcam was like watching the two football teams line up for the final play to break the tie and win the playoffs with only 2 seconds left on the clock.
Just before the snap, the commercial comes on. Afterwards the reporter says did you see that. This win will go down in the record books as a classic.
We await to see who won, how many and if any records were set.

Webcam – not what we hoped for, BUT Krystal – a great sponsor that is putting more effort, and money, and giving us more information and pictures of this event than any eating contest that has ever proceeded it…..Nathan’s may be the most publicity now, but the Krystal folks are making great strides….Rome wasn’t built in a day – I know they will get that webcam fixed!!
I can’t wait til this upcoming weekend, and, yes,Brian, that’s my first shameless plug of the Atlanta qualifier!!

I agree with with “Triple B”. Krystals is trying and my hats off to them.
I look forward to seeing what hat design and warpaint “Triple B” Bone Breaker Barlow, AKA SuperPaul, will be wearing next week in Atlanta.

In Krystals defense I want to say a few things
I’ve spent 15 years in graphic design/IT and I have to tell you that the investment that Krystal has made in their website (fully active Flash with embedded video walk through), Video Feed, and Texting is pretty significant. Please realize that these are being broadcast from a fairgrounds……an empty freaking field with tents on it that horses crap on for 10 months out of the year…..and a DIFFERENT fairgrounds each week!!!!! Electric is run out, but I cant even imagine how they are piping the video back to the streaming server. It’s impossible to get a solid connection at most of these places. There are HUNDREDS of things that could go wrong, and I’m impressed they could get anything consistant. I’ve set up texting software, and they pay for EVERY text that is sent out.
Moreover they are putting the effort out beyong any other sponsor and are making it fun by tracking the contestants, winners and wildcard. Everybody in the finals will win SOMETHING, and that is really appreciated considering what we all spend in training and travel.
I have faith these guys will work out the bugs as they seem committed to the contest and the eaters so please be patient…especially when we’re being treated with respect….but they better damn well fix it for the Atlanta contest so I can see Super Paul put the SMACKDOWN on the rest of the eaters!!!!!!WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Steakbellie i can agree with most of what you have said but with all that taken into condideration i believe that the viewers would be just as content to watch a Krystal clear tape delay of the contest which i think could be arranged by the tech people as opposed to having to be subjected to a live freeze frame webcam that has major glitches that need to be worked out. What do you think the public would prefer? a tape delay digital masterpiece or a live frame by frame freezup that is inaudible and unwatchable

Agree with Super Paul that Krystal is still, by far, the best sponsor on the circuit in terms of the amount of effort they’re putting into these events and how much they’re embracing the sport.
That said, I’ll nitpick a little here. The angle of the last webcam was bad. From the end of the table? Everyone knowns there’s nothing worth watching on the ends of the tables (trust me, that’s where I usually eat). Though to Steakbellie’s point, it is a fairgrounds and a makeshift stage, so it’s probably not possible to set up a webcam just anywhere.

You people make this more complicated than it reallly is. . All they are using is one of those 40 dollar webcams and trying to get a feed into the world wide web which is not easy unless you are using state of the art equipment. They would be better off uploading the footage from the cam onto a laptop then downloading it to the website . So whats the big deal it wont be live but 5 or 10 min later. It will look like a streaming video with high quality , I think that is much better than what we have been accustomed to
