AC meatballs to be occasion for “Battle of the Generations”?

Don “Moses” Lerman called for a battle between the older & younger generations of competitive eaters to occur at Big Ed’s when the next major northeastern IFOCE contest was scheduled. Many eaters expressed interest in attending. The 3rd Meatball Contest at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, NJ is scheduled for December 2. (Registration for that event is already closed) If the generation showdown is to occur, that contest would probably be the best occasion for it.

Define older generation. Does this include recently retired eaters? As much as I respect the older generation eaters, to include Moses, I must be honest and say that it is a bad idea, unless it is a handicap match. I think that Joey, Tim, Pat B, and Chip must be torn between feelings of laughter and disbelief.

Don you must force the eaters to go to Big Ed’s . It is essential you get the job done to end this debate once and for all

    Don,

I would be up for that if you get it organized. Sorry for the delay in response for I have not been able to access the internet for a few days now. I think that myself and several of the new eaters that attend the contest might be up for it. The only problem I see arising is the timing of you wanting to do it the day before the contest.

Don if they confirm both Kevin and i for Carmines we would get the guys together with directions and im sure everything would go as planned. I agree with Chip the day before the contest is not good . I think that sunday the day after the contest late afternoon or early evening would work

Can Don explain the point of this battle? Why would the results of this contests be any different than the other?

This is how the tentative field is shaping up if the challenge occured tommorow . Old school eaters: myself, Lerman, Goldstein, Shoudt, Lefevre(maybe) Lipsitz, Conti(maybe) . New school eaters: Simpson , Chestnut, RIos, Janus, Philbin, Bubba & Larry (maybe) . I am basing this on the possible confirmed entries for the meatball contest. Others might show so i dont want anyone to think i left them out because their names were not mentioned . On paper it would appear to be a total mismatch . The new shool would have a field day with us which is why it is essential that Lefevre and Shoudt participate in this event. Subich is not old or new school because of the cutoff date but we would have to take a vote if he could compete with us. It would be nice to have Hardy & Booker but i doubt either would throw their hats into this.

If and when this event does happen at Big Ed’s, it is VERY important that the eaters just go in as civilians. The owner DID NOT appreciate taking a bath the last time I organized this a few years ago. He told us he estimated he took a loss of about $200 on our table of about 20, over and above the restaurant tab when compared to his wholesale meat cost, not inc. prep labor.

At the end, after the last rib has been served, then the owner can be told. Otherwise, there may be extra seasonings added to the ribs, which would be considered unsavory by most. Just go in, behave yourselfs, eat like pigs no problem, but don’t let on that they just got hit by pros. Just some advice. When ordering, order the Baby Backs, they are much better than the full size ones and everyone ordered these last time when we had this event. Booker ate 20-22 racks I believe. Then they were donated back to the owner in about 15 seconds, into a bowl at the table. He did not take kindly to that. That is when we got the lecture about the loss. That place is so busy, that if we walk in quietly, group of 15-20 ordinary people, it will be no problem.

If this is going to be done Carmine’s weekend, I think Sunday afternoon would be best, as most people will be staying overnite in AC.
