InsideBayArea.com has a preview of today’s Nathan’s qualifier in the San Francisco area. Bert Chi and Jake True are two locals who will take on Rich LeFevre.

    I think its a down right shame that the very two locales that Rich and his wife Carlene qualified at every year had to be invaded by two immature eaters who happened to be better than Rich, making him have to go outside his home turf to qualify. It might be different if there were no other places for these boys to go but thats not the case here. What happened to respect?

    Luther, once again, I could not disagree more. Respect… how about competition. That is why we are all out there, to try our hand at the best and see how we measure up. If Rich wins agains a couple of joke eaters, there will be no sense of accomplisment or pride. Rich is a stand up guy, a true competitor and would not want to get in through the back door.

    Thirty-three is no back door. Thirty three is awesome but because of these two kids Rich has to reach into his pocket three times instead of being able to be thrifty by doing one event. If you cant see that somethings wrong.

    So because the competition has gotten better, and thus Rich and the other eaters must step up their games, something is wrong? The whole point of this point of this sport is to push your self and your competitors to do better at each and every comeptition, putting up bigger and bigger totals. As for Rich, he is a great competitive eater and legend in the sport, and will surely find a spot at Coney Island this year and win today’s qualifier.

    I have no hard feelings toward Pat and Joey at all. Competition is the name of the game and all is fair. I understand why both of them wanted to invade my territory as the schedule was set up to encourage the top guys (Joey and Pat) to make early statements and send a message which would heard all the way to Japan (had Daly City been scheduled before Tempe, Joey would have done that one instead). I am certainly not capable of putting up such earth shattering numbers so it’s good that those guys were able to get Kobe’s attention early on so he could bring his training level up a few more notches. Was it a good strategy to wake a sleeping giant? We’ll just have to wait and see but it does show that Joey is really fearless and wants to face Kobe at his best.

    Rich you had to say that for the record and thats big of you. Its just my personal belief that Joey and Pat could have awakened that guy from some place other than your back yard when there are so many places to choose from. Anyway I know today will be a laugher for you. Good luck.

    anonymous no wonder you dont give your name your a chicken. Rich is the greatest over 40 male eater of all time. As far as competing with the big boys well Pat and Joey will find out that they cant compete with the biggest boy on Independence Day. Rich is still pulling for the two ingrates but I am not.

    Luther today you have something nice to say about locust , tommorow you’ll end up trashing him. Do you have a life or have you ever had one? . Its so convienent to talk smack knowing noone will ever meet you. Prove that you are a man and show your face at an ifoce contest . I will bet you would never ever have the balls to do that. Why should you? You are having a ball getting your sex jollies hiding behind a PC ranking on people that never did anything to you.
