    MLE competitors have an exclusive contract with MLE. They generally aren’t allowed to compete in events outside of MLE without explicit permission.

    That being said, this wasn’t a contest. It was a restaurant challenge, like the kind Randy Santel does. The four of them are all MLE competitors who wanted to do this restaurant challenge at the same time. They weren’t competing with each other, they were competing against the current restaurant record.

    that is not the case at all. Stop speculating unless you are actually George or RIch posting the comment. I am sure MLE did not give the ok for Esper and Chestnut to participate in this event but Chestnut is their golden boy and he calls the shots and their isnt a damn thing the Sheas can do about it. If Chestnut walks then what? Kobe is gone so who fills the shoes ? Matt or Esper? ESPN wont go for those kind of replacements now way no how . Molly? It has yet to be determined whether or not she signed and even if she does , she cant compete in mens finals at Nathans unless they go back to the way it was which they should but they wont

    Does not matter Mr Hammond. MLE has stated in the past that competing in a restaurant challenge brings publicity to the restaurant and not MLE so therefore Mr spoiled brat got his way without the express consent of MLE

    @12:23 As a fellow MLE eater, I can confirm that what Steve said is correct. Restaurant challenges are very much allowed without written consent from MLE. Perhaps this was different in the past, but around the time of my signing, which is much more recent, they are in scope. If they were not allowed, I wouldn’t have signed with MLE because restaurant challenges are what got me into CE and they’re my favorite part about the hobby 🙂

    Also here’s a thought experiment: Many MLE eaters are constantly putting out YouTube videos of themselves doing challenges. How do you think that’s possible if MLE doesn’t allow it?

    The restaurant challenge appears to look like an actual contest but ill agree with you Brett because it was listed as a challenge .What i wont agree with you is the fact that the contract allows restaurant challenges which is what you alluded to . In scope does not mean :allow” What i am thinking is that over the course of the last five years MLE realized there is nothing they can do to prevent their members from doing challenges on youtube They probably dont condone them but the reality is that MLE is outnumbered
