Hunt, Chestnut, Bertoletti & Janus complete 29 inch pizza challenge

On March 3, the Masticators, (Joey Chestnut & Hall Hunt) and the Space Dockers (Pat Bertoletti & Tim Janus) both finished Schiappa’s 29 inch pizza challenge for two person teams in O’Fallon, Illinois (greater East Saint Louis). This article mentions their feat and says both duos took under six minutes (the limit is 30) to finish the pizzas. In addition to being placed on the Wall of Fame, the teams won a gift certificate for another 29 inch pizza and are entered in a drawing for a trip to Cancun that will be held after two other teams have finished the challenge. (Is the Whaler’s boat equipped for tropical latitudes?) 😉

Wait, wait, wait…. What the hell’s going on here?

Tim Janus sets the Doodle Record in February. Then he sets the Rockford Chili Dog record. And now he completes a pizza challenge? All within weeks of each other?

I wish that guy would quit it with the multiple personality crap and write a real blog and tell people when he’s doing these things. Maybe even post a few pictures to document the feats. Why are we hearing about all this a week later???

Eater X IS a complete mystery. But yet, he’s an inspiration. He should print T Shirts and sell them on eBay. Or run for mayor.

Also, kudos to Joey, Pat, and Hall. That looks like a whole lotta pizza. No kudos for your team names though. You should have been The Destroyers or something else equally interesting, hip, and badass.

Space Dockers – what a cool name. I wonder if it means something?

Bob has an inquisitive mind. Good for Humble Bob for daring to ask! True to his name, he’s not too proud raise his hand and admit he doesn’t know everything. Hooray for Bob! Learning is exciting.

I’m so impressed! Funny the article didn’t think think the whole competitive eaters angle was interesting enough to comment on. Missed opportunity!

I happened upon this old eatfeats thread from over eight years ago, in 2006.

Two thing stand out to me:

    1) OJ used to use emoticons in his posts.

    2) Beautifulbrian used to be nice.
