These tables are all very interesting except for one critical ingredient, I think. Please tell me if I am incorrect. If the comparison is supposed to give an idea of where people should be ranked, there are too many other variables which determine the percentages and numbers to actually do that. The problem is that eaters do not participate equally in contests, numbers that is. A little more explanation anyone?

All it is is a tally of how many times each person in the top 30 has competed together at the table, and if it were considered a 1v1 contest, what the results would be (for every possible combination).
What OJ does is he takes the total amount of contests participated in, and divides it by the total number of wins one has (Ties are considered half a win).
So randomly…..
37-9-3 = (37 + 1.5) / 49 = 0.7856 …… 0.7856 x 100(%) = 78.56%
The good thing about this Stallion is that since its bases on % instead of points for every contest, a person who does 50 contests has no advantage then someone who does 10. The only factor that would skew this chart is if someone only goes to contests where he or she has a chance of placing high, and avoids the contests that are stacked. cuz in on this chart, the value of beating Matt Stonie is the same as beating Joey Chestnut, even tho ones obviously harder then the other (and vice versa). I like that comparison tho =]
Sorry for my nerdiness in Math but im Half Japanese

“The problem is that eaters do not participate equally in contests, numbers that is.”
Of course they don’t, but it’s still a useful metric. Baseball players don’t each go bat the exact same number of times in general and especially not the exact same number of times against the exact same pitchers, but batting average is still an important statistic to look at when evaluating talent.

Anonymous 9:14 just another throwaway comment to criticize. Why not do a little thinking and work yourself instead of criticizing or perhaps even ask questions. What a novel idea. Ever hear of the Little Red Hen? The purpose of people who constantly criticize and blast this website is, in theory, to try to elevate themselves by taking others down. It simply doesn’t work. Eventually you just dig your own hole and then piss and moan about how unfair everything is. Unhappiness breeds the same. If you look at the top entries, they fairly well mirror the rankings with some exceptions. I think that is the point. It is a way to look at things statistically instead of subjectively. We all know that competitive eating is pretty much subjective when it comes to within some spaces of numbers. But overall, they are a good indication of how people place with some consistency.
