Japanese female competitive eater news
(Since some readers don’t care for posts about Japanese eaters not named Kobayashi, I will combine these links into a single post to make them easier to ignore)
Miyuki Iwata has an interview (in English) from after her victory in Shanghai.
Tomoko Miyake has a video (apparently some type of audition tape). Toro has a translation of the transcript.
Natsuko “Gal” Sone was crowned “King” after completing 5 eating challenges at gansotorokatsu curry. It took her only 2 days to complete all five challenges.

Nathan’s qualifiar in Japan will be held tomorrow.According to Shin’s blog,it seems that Tomoko Miyake,and also Gal Sone will not participate with .They will appear the next day’s event in Kawasaki.I’m not sure why they won’t participate it….it can be difficult that Japanese workers take a holiday in this week of July,and I think that most of the participants can’t take a holiday,but they only want to join the qualifier.

I don’t know, I think it’s pretty cool. I’d love to see a competition in Japan.

If Shirota shows up at the qualifier in Japan it will all be over with but the shoutin’. If he doesn’t show and Oguni does Oguni will take it. I seriously doubt that any of the Japanese females, as good as they seem to be, can down more than 20 hot dogs in 12 minutes. Both Oguni and Shirota can do way more than that.

What Rhonda said is correct. I’ve fogot Oguni would participate it.And actually he won the today’s qualifier.The record is 19 hot dogs in 12 minutes.Iwata won the second prize,having 15.5 hot dogs.the third is Mr.matsumura,from Kansai(west part of Japan).Most of all participates are famous among Aoki’s websites,so I think I’ve fouud nothing new.
Kobayashi appeared as a guest,not eating today.He advertized the T-shirt that was designed for him (his Kanji name printed on the back) by Optimystik,the company had promoted Kobayashi as a model of other T-shirts.It costs 4,000yen,about USD35.The emcee said Kobayashi will wear it at Nathan’s contest.But Nathen’s have the other T-shirt,so I think it is difficult he will wear it.
Maybe his fans will wear it.I’m not decided whether I will wear it or not.

correction:I’ve found the mark “Nathen’s” on the back of the T-shirt.It means the T-shirt is one of Nathen’s official T-shirts.Kobayashi may be able to wear it.
