I’m starting to think that there is no MLE game, and that they’re just messing with us.

But they have demoed the game… Probably just making sure they pay everyone before they release it. 😉

If its the ifoce doing the paying, I highly doubt they are the least bit concerned whether the anyone gets paid or not.
That said, the game looks entertaining…for an hour, maybe.
Similar to the Espn game, & the Wing Bowl game, for entertainment value.

This seems like THE absolute perfect time to release the game —- right after the most successful, well-attended Nathan’s in history. Timing is of the essence.
Many fad-driven fans would buy the game because of the association with a successful, televised Nathans. If Mastiff Games / Nintendo wait much longer, they might as well wait until the Krystals Finals to release it.

They have a working Demo so my guess the problem is one of 3 things:
1. The game works but theres a problem with the Online Play Component. Very few wii games use an online play component (despite it being a popular feature on all other game systems), and it may be a sign that it is hard to do.
2. Game is too large for download. All of the other downloadable games seem MUCH simplier. Nintendo may have asked them to go back and shrink the size of the game as much as possible as there isnt a whole lot of drive space on a wii.
3. The Crazy Legs Conti character is hard to digitally contain and he keeps getting into various hijinks like stealing Erik the Red’s Head Band, replacing X’s face paint with only flesh color, and talking up the Bunnette so she loses count.

Steakbellie – you’re probable right with the online and size aspect. There’s a lot more to the online part than most people think about. I wonder how big the game actually is, just depends on how good the programmers are, and what they “have” to keep in there…

MLE and IFOCE could be much bigger if they get their stuff together.
Yes, we have Nathan’s and Krystals,
but slow or negligable payment to eaters,
slow release on the game – which should be one of the biggest accomplishments yet,
Spike shows are always under publicized,
The MLE site never gets updated, and is hard to navigate
IFOCE and Eater information pages stink – lots are blank, have no pictures, just one picture from years ago, and no or very little, outdated info
contest results are incomplete, or like Broadway at the Beach, never posted
half the time, it is the eaters that arrange the publicity, and promote the sport – while the organization waits for phone calls, instead of making them.
Overall, the organization is run like a “loved hobby”, rather than a professional business. There could be five-10 majors, maybe one a month even, instead of two. Lots of money has been left on the table, for both the organization, and the eaters
Two people in New York is not enough to keep things managed properly.
Hire a full-time, fully staffed crew, and catch up to the world – the world talks about us on occasion, it should be a regular topic.
People are slightly aware of “the Asian Guy”, the “little oriental ladies”, the “American guy that finally beat the Asian guy”, “The big Black Guy”, but the names should be on the tip of everyone’s tongue, at least like pro wrestlers. We are on the crest of a huge wave, ready to surf the North Shore, don’t miss this opportunity to ride the big one.
