Does Koby even train the way Joey does? I mean, if you don’t have access to Nathan’s dogs, Krystals, etc. in Japan; and IMO, Joey’s style is the optimal way of training – he basically simulates the contest at home.

Luther: That is what makes Koby so great. He doesnt have the American foods to train with but still wins over our eaters who train with our food.

Joey does not train at home as the IFOCE does not allow it.

its still laughable to me that joey doesnt get reprimanded by the sheas for publicly in press and tv for saying he trains with hot dogs when its a written rule that the ifoce does not like it and pat got what he got for puking which is i guess against the eater code whatever that is and also bob gets suspended for who knows what because nothing was mentioned of the suspension or why he was suspended what a joke

I think the IFOCE neither knows for sure what its own rules are, nor is concerned with enforcing them fairly. The reality is that it’s fine and dandy for Joey (or any other highly touted eater) to train and improve as long as it makes things better for CE (the IFOCE).

But if Joey were to suffer a training accident and elicit NEGATIVE publicity, the IFOCE would go on record to slam Joey’s train-at-home regimen. He might even be ostracized for awhile.

Rule-wise, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. Use one set of rules for all eaters–not different standards.

Ah, well the old saying goes, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Where would the Sheas be without Joey? Look at all the press between the battle of Joey and Takeru, and how much sponsorship that pulls in. Pat doesn’t attribute much in the way of that, and when he does get publicity, it is for a staged stunt of throwing up on purpose into another guy’s mouth. Not what the Brothers Shea have in mind when trying to pitch a family oriented good time to the investors.
I haven’t heard about Bob’s suspension. Who is that you are referring to, Shoudt? Could that be for the non-sanctioned (or was it?) Philly cheese steak record event?

I don’t undestand why training at home is an issue. The IFOCE doesn’t condone it, but hell, anyone who is eating is training, which of coure is why CE is starting to be recognized as the world’s most popular sport.

Joey is not the only training at home. Kobayashi trains and it’s been documented on television. And I’m sure everyone else trains, except for Luther.

The IFOCE doesn’t care if anyone trains, they just aren’t going to be held liable when someone gets hurt.
