Joey Chestnut wins 16th Nathan’s Famous title
The 2023 Nathan’s men’s contest has been cancelled due to lightning and rain. I am not sure why the 2020 contest setup could not be recreated in the second floor of Nathan’s Famous’ building and the competition held later today.

Wow, Joey was way off his game— I was expecting him to hit almost 80. However, Webby was the real surprise pushing Esper right down to the last 30 seconds!

Crazy Legs Conti is not much of an eater but he knew how to run an afterparty at the Redemption bar in NYC. I heard the 2008 party was a wild one. Some attendees are still hung over.

James Webb , this was his second Coney Island . He had a chance to overthrow Joey Chestnut.
Yes , Webb improved from last year , but Webb is a natural eater . It’s a God given gift . If Webb would have trained hard like Joey does , Webb could have won this year . Webb is pretty much the future of competitive eating if he wants to be.

Something tells me the reaching 60 dogs in itself feels pretty horrible, let alone maintaining it for multiple years. Matt & Carmen didn’t exactly feel the need to make it happen. Plus, Joey even dips down to lower 60’s sometimes. Makes me wonder if one pretty much has to eat over 70 in practice just to assure 60 on game day.

I am American . I’ve been watching this Webb guy . I think he’s special. Others have been watching him too . His Jaw line for one thing , is incredible how quickly he can put the food in .
Joey doesn’t do YouTube, he just practices all the time . If Webb can practice more , he would overtake Joey . Because of age , James will eventually take over anyways , but he could have won this year . He should have come to North America one month out instead of 5 days …

I think Webb will hit 55 plus in 2024 . Joey Chestnut will hit 65 .
I think Esper might retire 50 / 50 . Eaper gets 45 to 55 dogs down no problem in 10 minutes .
If Kobi comes back , I think Kobiyashi can get 55 to 60 down .
If Breeden comes back , I think 43 to 47 . Nick Wehry 44 to 48 . Miki 40 to 45 .

Webb will probably stroke out. He lost most good muscle. Nick will wear his vipers to look cool and throw his son around the stage to get him attention. That kid will be just as attention hungry as his substance dependent parents. Kobi won’t come back. Joey ran away from the duel. Miki will make a cheesy post about being the uncontested champion and fall off the stage.

Kobi not competing next year—you are in fantasy world. If Webb were to improve from 41 to 55 in 2 years, that would be quite the leap. Not impossible, but also would elite status improvement. I think Miki will be back to 45+ next year—if not, then she’s on the downslope of her career. I think Esper wants to be better than 50–if he hismt getting 55+ in 2024 i don’t think he’ll want to compete. Especially if Webb is challenging him for 2nd place prize next year

@ 3:36 pm – it’s very easy to say Webby should be here a month out, but when the Australian dollar is paying 62c to USD and the guy is literally only just starting out as being a full time creator / food competitor he just can’t afford it.
Wouldn’t it be great if the US could embrace someone from abroad, like they did Kobiyashi a decade ago. Then perhaps the financial side of this guy trying “to make it” wouldn’t be such a burden.
Webby got an international bye this year but no fianncial relief from MLE other than prize money (which he earned and was not guaranteed).
Imagine if there was sponsors or American support for the guy. Could be massive. But at the moment he and his Mrs have thrown all everything they own and have to pursue this “dream”. As a “Foodie” in this circle I hope it pays off tor them as I’ve never met a nicer couple.

The guy loads food, so if he is doing challenges regularly in the lead up to any contest its purpose is to stretch his stomach. Also he didn’t do any live streams on the 5th – so stfu.
He didn’t eat anything except for the contest from dinner on the 3rd to Parkwood deli on the 6th. As an Australian Foodie I resent the fact that some of the US a supporters are so jealous of this guy.
Should be more focused on the others who are hiding their prep. At least Webby is transparent and puts it out there for all to see.

@ OzFoodGuy you need to relax and stop putting Webb up on a pedestal and taking and feedback or critiques as an attack on your National heritage. No one has a duty or responsibility to make participating in MLE financially lucrative or “easier” for foreigners to compete/ Just like with most things, people come to the US because we are the best of the best (not everything, but for most things, the US is the cream of the crop).
Also, do you have Webb’s daily planner?? You seem to know his exact schedule down to the hour.

^^ as if that is safer than water training. And if he isn’t water training, then he is not approaching his full potential. Anyone can do a bunch of food challenges, 2+ per day, and call it “training”… MLE events are not Restaurant challenges though

James Webb is that good !! 11 years of competitive eater / youtube eater history in Australia and in 1.5 years James Webb greatness has made people forget about the past great Australian Eaters.
Randy Santel came to Australia and did a few YouTube Videos with James Webb . None with Hulk Smash Food or Col The Conqueror or Froman James or Jesse Freeman or The Punk Gardener .
These guys are Australian Eating Legends and where completely forgotten by big belly Santel .
