MLE can’t think of anymore bullshit titles to give out so they’re letting Pete Davekos eat fruit. Nice.

After 14yrs of service you would think they could come up with a title for Seiken

These undercard events could build excitement if done right. Maybe MLE should do these more frequently, especially at the huge contests where the top players all show and shut out the talented midcard players.

and it will be a fine record, eating against yourself in a category never before contested, to set a record that will never fall as they will never again allow it to be competed in, so many of their records are total frauds, is this any more valid than janus eating sushi?

they gave him the title “Blogger Extraordinaire.” That seems like a nicer title than “Middle-aged Table-ender” 🙂

George Shea promised Shredder a shot a regaining the bologna title years ago after Don Lerman slapped the face of MLE by competing in non-sanctioned events after announcing his retirement. Don’t hold your breath.

I agree NReda. Anyway, I think it’s great to let different eaters go after records in some foods. It not only hurts nothing, it helps give eaters a sense of pride in accomplishment, which builds morale and camaraderie.

Frankly, many people (whether they say it or not), including yours truly, get tired of reading about the same three or four people being in the news.

One of the things I enjoy about BB’s site is that he recognizes this too, and doesn’t have a bias to report on performances of only the top eaters. He spreads the wealth and makes lesser-known eaters better known. That’s notewortthy.

On a related note, I enjoyed Eats of Strength a few years back for similar reasons. I wish MLE would start it back up again.

On the note of contesting old records, it would be cool to see Matt Stonie get a shot at the sushi record. It’s probably the one thing he eats more than anything else!

Middle aged table ender is a better title than middle aged ducker.. If you dont know what that means , it means an eater who picks and chooses his or her contests so they dont look bad against better competition to secure their overinflated ranking in MLE

September 21, 2011@ 12:10 pm, I slapped the face of MLE,? don’t make me laugh, I was one of the best eaters one of the premier eaters and pioneers of the sport, and the Shea reduced me to a tag along, I remember at the Winchells donuts final I was the orange county champ I won the Qualifier along with Jed Donahue and at the final, I was told to sit with the people he pulled out of the audience rather at the main table , talk about table enders , I endured many bad calls at contests and never said anything at the time so not to get the sponco r upset , where did it get me ? when I see eater in the MLE still aroundfrom when I was ciompeting FOCE, it saddens me that I was sort of given the boot

ok ok, maybe slap in the face was a bad choice of words. Don’t break a blood vessel Don. True, you were one of the best of the best.

Maybe eaters who pick and choose his or her contests do so because they have lives and other interests and hobbies besides competitive eating. As for the rankings, they seem to be accurate this go around.

Davekos is a proud Bostonian and is recognized as a loyal and true friend of MLE…so why not eat fruit in his hometown for a new world record? Good for him! Besides he’s one of the best “media eaters” as well, along with Conti and Bert.
Hey, Sonya is doing the same minutes afterwards with a new Meatball eating record.

When you.say one of the best media eaters you should be saying one of the chosen eaters by MLE to represent the media. How are we supposed to determine who is the best if the same people are chosen over and over again without giving others a chance

Sonya and Koby don’t have to speak one word. Their actions speak loud enough. Davekos, CLC, Furious Pete, Seiken, PB, and Boone don’t have to eat and they can sell the stunt. Of all those, Pete is the total package and probably markets CE better than anyone else today.
