Now that the ribs results have been posted, I have changed the poll to whether you believe Kobayashi should have been disqualified in last week’s Nathan’s finals. Megamunch and True Fan have a lot more information on the possible grounds for disqualification that this site does.
I was all for dqing him in ’02 when he actually puked. (The only rational I’ll almost accept, is that he was ahead by 23 hdb’s & was only going for his own record)
I’m not saying for sure that he didn’t puke, but I haven’t seen any evidence that he did… this time. It seemed like he may have spit some out, but it didn’t appear to be puke. I also didn’t see it coming out his nose, that was snot, not dog &/or bun & was there before Chestnut & Bertoletti’s reaction.
Joey, outstanding effort. It may take a while, but you will get him eventually.
Joey Chestnut should have made an eaters obection at the time of the contest, to late.now sorry the contest is long over , once the judge rules it is never changed . this is an old rule of the the I.F.O.C.E .
Don is right once the contest is over the outcome will not be reversed (keyword “will”). This is the oldest and possibly the only rule. I don’t see this ever changing. Everyone can bitch all they want but this is not a demorcracy, accept it and get on with things
A sport is governed by rules . How can you call this a sport when certain people get paid for their services. There is not drug testing . The only attraction is prize money that only the top contenders have a chance at getting. Only headliners, top notch eaters or the pets of the organization are taken care of monetarily and its supposed to be a big secret.. If the people that run the show wont lay it out on the table and refuse to be honest with the members of the organization then this can never become a sport .If you realize how happy some of these phoney bastards are after the contest is only due to the fact that they recieved a piece of the pie at the contest. I would love to see how happy they would be with all handshakes, etc if they didnt place in the money. Without mentioning names , they would walk off pouting like it was the end of the world and dissassociate themselves with everyone that day.
This absolutely IS a sport TILII! There is a common thread that runs through all sports: top performers make the most money. Talent should be rewarded, as it makes things better for ALL. You can’t leverage sports with average Joes. It doesn’t work that way. Those with minimal or no talent should be most thankful that they can eat alongside the great ones. Be thankful. If you don’t like the rules, go play elsewhere.
Takeru “The Tsunami” Kobayashi should not have been disqualified because he heaved or burped, not puked. I’m a Kobayashi fan, but even if he did puke I wouldn’t deny it. I like Natsuko “The Gal” Sone over him though.
