A video of a bearded Pat Bertoletti completing a 12 pound pizza challenge with a teammate at an unnamed restaurant in Detroit has been uploaded to his yardbarker page. The challenge took place on June 20 when Bertoletti did the Jimmy John's makers vs. eaters event in Detroit, which is available in Pat Bertoletti's yardbarker videos. Youtube also has a Saturday's taco contest in its entirety.

    OJ

    Suggestion…
As most challenges are for an individual, how about a separate category for team challenges?

    Taxman,

No kidding! Seems as though some IFOCE eaters are getting a lot bolder when it comes to doing these challenges, even though it’s frowned apon by the powers that be. Have the Shea’s finally loosened the noose?

I think indefinite suspensions are in order.

You can’t suspend the stars, you need then to legitimize the big events – but, boy, are these guys pushing it or what!

If it were Brad Sciullo doing a Burger or Skinnyboy Lane eating hot dogs…….oh wait, they did that and what happened!

So that’s basically it then huh, if you’re a big name you can do what ever you want but if you’re a mid to lower teir (still very good eaters… but usually never place higher then 4th or in the money) you better be on your best behavior… That’s really to bad.

I heard there’s a clause in the IFOCE contract that discusses the restaurant challenge ban that says eaters aren’t allowed to make more than two trips to restaurant buffets (“including Chinese, Old Country, and all other “all you can eat” dining establishments”). It also says that eaters aren’t allowed to order Burger King’s Double Quarter Pounder or eat more than “a reasonable number of pizza slices while within the jurisdiction of any pizza or Italian food establishment.”

    I’m just saying, that’s what I heard…

AHA! There’s the loophole….reasonable amounts covers a whole lot of the semi-illegal digestion goin on

It’s their league, their contract, and they can do what they want.

I was kidding about the restaurant clauses by the way. At least I hope it’s not true.

Correct me if I’m wrong here… now if I have my info correct, not all IFOCE eaters are contracted right? If so, then how/why can the non contracted eaters be reprimanded for doing restaurant challenges?

let’s put it this way…if you are potential IFOCE, or have participated in an IFOCE contest – you should keep it on the down-low if you insist on doing resturant challenges, contract or not. It may not be politically correct, or official, but it’s frowned upon by the powers that be.
Like someone else alluded to, it’s their party (The Sheas), and you can cry if you want to, but all you’ll get is wet.
