The new poll asks how you think the total $25,000 purse for the Nathan's finals should be distributed between the men's and women's divisions. In a New York Daily News article, George Shea says he thinks the $15,000 difference is compensated for by the fame the women's champion will receive. (The short article has two errors: Birgit Felden ate 9.5 hot dogs in 1984 and women were allowed to compete before 1984.)

The non-cash bonus to winning the championship can’t actually be quantified. I think most people would rather have the cash! How much fame do people in CE really have anyway?
