A breakdown of the $10,000 prize money allocation would be appreciated.
Sonya mentions on her website that she is going to cut down on the number of events she enters. I hope her reduction in contest frequency is her own choice and not the result of other factors.

Very, very , very unofficial has Joey Chestnut winning by 1 french fry. This is my conversation with (562) 499-1650 – the contest place. Me – “Who won the contest”? Her – It was close, 1 french fry. It wasn’t the one they thought would win” Me – “Was it a guy or a girl?” Her – “It was a guy” Me – “Was it Joey Chestnut?” Her – “Yes I think that is what his name was”

Woah. It says, “Sonya Thomas edged out arch-rival Joey Chestnut by one ounce at the Weinerschnitzel World Chili Cheese Fry Eating Championship in Long Beach, CA.”

I do not know how she got that one wrong, now I look even more like a buffoon than I did earlier today.
The Paul ? is actually Paul Chestnut. He would have put up a bigger total, but he stopped eating and cheered for Joey – according to one eater that was in the contest. He ends up beating El Toro for the 2nd time (first was the Barrick Burger Jr event).
All in all some great numbers for no dunking, plate can not be above chest level and eat with a fork rules. Good job by all. Another top notch IFOCE event is what I heard from an eater that was there. Interesting location. Sorry to have missed it.

You are a legend Don. There is no doubt about that. Nobody can ever take that away. You have accomplished so much over the years and have set the bar high for everyone. I know that many people including myself can only hope to achieve a fraction of the success in competitive eating that you have achieved.

Don – lets get back to what is important – the contest that you were no where near – The Queen Mary was awesome, great site for an event in my opinion. The results of the contest were not without controversy, as usual – there were a lot of fries underneath the table after the contest, I don’t know whose fries they were, but definitely someone got credit for eating them. Joey and Sonya were virtually tied, they both deserved victory for putting up such a huge number, no one else was close. Carlene was in the crowd again cheering on Rich and I wouldn’t be surprised if she is up on stage eating again soon. I hope she will be because she is an awesome character.
