“As soon as I left, I knew I was going to dedicate my life to this”

Really you are gonna dedicate your life to competitive eating, maybe he should go to college first. Being a waiter and an aspiring competitive eater is not a good combo kid.

“I don’t think there’s a competitive eater out there that’s in as good of shape as me”

Another bold claim; He should maybe do his research first and realize the best eaters in the world are in way better shape then he is.
This guy would get destroyed by Joey, Pat, and Tim. He needs to take his lumps and prove himself before he makes these outrageous claims.

The article says he used to be a marine. His idea of ‘good shape’ is probably loosely based on the US military’s requirements for general physical fitness: how fast you can run, how many pushups/pullups you can do, etc.. With that in mind, I bet he is in much better shape than Joey, Pat, Sonya etc. but that by itself does not make him a better eater. Still, he seems to have the discipline to do very well; if he can eat a 4 pound burger in 7 minutes after only two months of training (as the article says), by the time July comes around, he should be good enough to easily enter the top 15 and qualify for Nathan’s.

Cut the guy some slack. He was a Marine. He did do some homework if you read his training regimen. It might not help his eating, but perhaps he can do more push-ups than any of the above mentioned eaters. Pretty snobby of you to diss him for being a waiter. Not everyone can afford to go to college. People get misquoted all of the time by the press.

a quest? spunds like the song to dream the impossible dream. This is my quest to follow that star no matter how hopeless no matter how far. Most of these wannabe eaters have quests to nowhere

Nobody can beat me blah blah. Ex marine with a big tough guy ego. From the looks of things he resembles a bar brawler looking for a food fight . Take your story somewhere else, we heard it all before

If this guy can impress in a sanctioned contest, people will be telling a much different story. It’s just up to him to take himself somewhere.

the question is, is he going to sign the contract? or is he another Pete? or a rebel Kobe? or a Monson IFOCE guy?
