Who is gonna be at the Cleveland qualifier? I support Scott Bickel & wish him luck… But its complete bullshit to lie about past challenges (the Applebee’s 2 for 20 menu!!!) I guess we will see what happens in June. He is very lucky that the media has nothing better to do, & does not actually do any research on what they do stories on. I wish Kansas City was a little more like that. haha

This is an ignorant statement, lol but I think Scott & Brad Sciullo need to team up together 😉

@Anonymous 9:28am- Pat’s facebook says he is gonna be doing the China qualifier…

China qualifier eh? Pat, I hope you literally visit, but don’t figuratively hit, the Great Wall!

Good luck, enjoy your visit, and knock ’em dead!

beijing is 2 weeks before cleveland. when pat wins the american spot in china, he will not need to be anything more than a spectator in cleveland. i hope he has his passport for bickles sake. too much training in my humble opinion. there will be top eaters at all of the US qualifiers. i suggest he work most on suppressing the gag reflex and hope for a postion not near the center of the table. sure i will pull for the underdog but the reality may set in quick.

I’ll give Bickel 19.5 dogs, don’t think he’ll quite get to 20. I think the max he’ll be able to do if everything goes as planned would be about 25.

I will be there to root Bickel on. I personally would like to see Pat there. He is my favorite ifoce guy besides Boadlands. It should be fun to watch. And if Bickel wants to win he will have to eat like its the 4th of July!

I have no reason to put Bickell down, but with his eating history, I’m pretty sure he’s going to be severely disappointed with his numbers. Especially if he’s only done challenges, and this will be his first competition. It’s a whole different world when you grab on “GO” and realize on the first bite that that hot dog’s been sitting out in the sun for a couple of hours. All of a sudden everything you thought you knew about putting it down goes right out the window. I think Blizz is right. He’ll probably get around the 20 mark… maybe 25.

Ok..here is the secret..I have been hiding it for so many years..to all the eaters and fans out there, this is the truth of Scott Bickel. You may not understand. You may not want to understand. But it is the truth. Its not about hotdogs. Its not about glory for being the top eater. Its about inspiring the world through my story. Its about making it big so I can have the money to give my parents a better life. Its about bring happiness and joy to Cleveland and to show people in life YOU CAN SUCEED even when the world says you cant. Its about believing in yourself and proving millions wrong. After you read this little link which I just modified, you may think different about me. I am not here to brag. I am not here to make other eaters angry and feel bad. This whole journey has NOTHING to do with competitive eating. This whole journey is about me fulfilling my life dream. It doesnt end at eating. Its just another step for me getting what I want in life and inspring millions. You people are missing the point. Read this link http://www2.xlibris.com/bookstore/author.aspx?authorid=53991

Scott, here’s another secret. Do you think you are the only eater who has dreams for their friends, family and loved ones? Do you think you are the only eater who’s faced tough times in their life? You need to understand that assuming your mission in life is somehow better or more high minded than any other eater is demeaning to those other eaters. Particularly to those eaters who have come before you, earned it, and built cometitive eating to a forum that you feel now you can gain some notoriety by participating in it. I don’t mean to be glib, but in order to inspire, don’t you think you should accomplish something first? And Scott, embelishing your record doesn’t exactly inspire. Also, I am sorry, but even your explanation sounds a bit selfish and egotistical — inspiring millions — wow? How about starting with some friends and loved ones and work out from there? For example, when it comes to those people of Cleveland whom you say you are doing this for and buy into your quest, what happens if you don’t succeed in competitive eating? My advice to you for now as a rookie eater is to let your talent in eating do your talking. Believe me, if you truly are a phenom as you seem to claim, don’t worry your ability to inspire others will come.

Scotts statement includes many lofty goals. However, he makes no reference to his abilities to live fully and achieve when he is not in his manic state. The opposite side of the bi-polar manic state is the state of depression and complete inability to function. Hopefully he is taking proper medication. As for the rest, I would simply like to see what he does at the table. The rest is only words.

In other words, he sees eating as a means to an end rather than the end itself.

Not really; he continues to talk without proving anything. But thing is you see the top eaters and they aren’t acting like they are saviors or preaching destiny.

@ Beef – I don’t understand how stuffing your face with hot dogs is “not about eating”. If you really care about other people than why dont you find a better way to help the world. I think volunteering at a homeless shelter would be more beneficial to others than eating massive amounts of food. That makes no sense. And if you want to earn money for friends and family why don’t you get a stable career instead of trying to do something impossible like beat Joey Chestnut. Sorry but you’re not going to get that prize money even if you do somehow miraculously qualify and get a spot on stage, which I am severely doubting at this point. Not to be rude, but your whole outlook on competitive eating is extremely unrealistic

Scott I know I’ve been an asshole towards you but really it’s justified, to me your just riding something many others have sacrificed to build. What happens when you don’t even qualify ( which I strongly believe you won’t ) nobody likes an asshole who brags about accomplishments they haven’t fulfilled. you should try to show some humility and go about your business quietly then and only then will you garner any respect and at that point I may consider helping you but untill then don’t hurt yourself on the way down…

your right jamminjoe it is justified…trust me im not mad at you or anyone who likes to bash…its all part of the game…and i totally understand and respect that…but if michael jordan let the bashers throw him down after he didnt make his high school basketball team, he never would have become the worlds greatest NBA star. MJ is a prime example. gotta love motivation!

    Scott,

You do know the difference between motivation and cockiness right? How about expectations vs reality?

I don’t remeber Michael Jordan making statements about how he is gonna win 5 or 6 world Championships after being cut from his High School team.

  27. Psst said

But when Michael Jordan didn’t make his high school basketball he didn’t go out and tell everyone he really did make his high school basketball team and embelish that with a few other things like he was a top world class basketball player. That would have been disrespectful to the top world class basketball players at the time who had earned those types of accolades. He shut up, went to work, made achievements in college and the pros, and actually became a top world class basketball player. It was then, once he achieved something, that he began to inspire millions.

Hey beef. People are talking about you because you are delusional. That is not the kind of attention that normal people crave. You probably don’t even realize how rediculous you sound. You even sent us to a link that verified what we were all thinking…..YOU ARE CRAZY…..or technically bipolar.

Pat Bertoletti is going to roll into Cleveland and make you look like a fool. How will that inspire millions?

Tiny, you couldnt find a better buffet? looked like tacos with corn and lots of grilled cheese sandwhiches and chicken. I guess I would feel cramped living in middle america. I had buffet tonight and I chose to go with mostly crawfish since it was all you can eat i love crawfish. I can’t pass up meatballs and anything “raviolish”, if it is a pasta filled with cheese it ends up on my plate. I mixed in a bowl of tuna salad as well as collard greens in between plates of crawfish. i had some cobbler a la mode for desert, and then made a drive by for some turkey legs at the carving station. (eat turkey last otherwise you might fall asleep before finishing the buffet). I think i snuck some ribs on the side of one of my plates of crawfish. Mudbugs are not filling and they take a deal of busywork to eat several plates of them. If you ever get out to vegas I can lead you to some good buffets. This one wasn’t even that great, but it was $9.99 and very convenient. Good luck Tiny, but take it easy on those buffets.

You guys act like it’s a big deal that Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. But it was the varsity team, and HE WAS A SOPHOMORE. It’s not like he didn’t didn’t make the freshman team when he was a freshman.
