My results are unofficial and unconfirmed but Sonya did win with 5lbs or slightly over. Chip came in second. The guy who finished third was in shoe fly pie. I might have gotten the wrong first name. He set some kind of record in milk a few months ago. From what i was told Simpson was extremely upset with the final decision

There was a re-weigh in Buffalo, called for by an “anonymous” competitor. Chip came in at 4.77 lbs or so. Sonya was on fire.

Simpson demanded the recount before they could even announce the winner. Sciullo finished third

If you cant eat 3lbs of this stuff you have no business being in this contest. The first four finishers of this contest have proven that they are of the elite . From the results it is easy to distinguish the men from the boys .

Dang it Bill! Now I look foolish because I told everyone that Ben Beavers got 2.04 when he really got 2.03! Just funnin’ – I actually really appreciate your efforts to get everyone’s scores accurately and post them here. It’s fun to see how everyone compared to each other, not just the top few official results.

And kick some butt at the buffet bowl Mike!

You can tell who the IFOCE favorites are. From Saturday:

    Tim’s record from tamales: posted.
    Joey’s record: posted
However, there’s no mention of Sonya’s performance.

If it weren’t for B. Brian and eatfeats I wouldn’t even know about the contest.

Sonya needs to tear up her contract, assuming it’s still in effect, and go elsewhere where she can be properly marketed and and appreciated.

It’s time for her to be able to sit at a table with Gal Sone and Iron Gut if she wants to.

    Damn!

Sorry, Kev – I was typing last night after getting up yesterday at 5:30, driving 7 hours to get here, being dehydrated (my fault), eating in a contest where I was stuffed tight up against the stage railing by Brian Subich (no offense Brian – you were being crowded by Russ, who was crowded by…), and then typing on a keyboard I seldom use at 11:30PM. So I fat-fingered one keystroke…

Thanks for your appeciation, though. When are we going to see you here on the East Coast?

  16. mike landrich said

I was crowding Russ. I had to sit to give Russ and myself room to move. Had we stood shoulder to shoulder, it would’ve been almost impossible to move. I’d say there should’ve been 2 less competitors, but that could’ve been me.

No immediate plans to be on the east coast, but if the right contest comes up, I’ll make the journey.

“If you cant eat 3lbs of this stuff you have no business being in this contest.” – Anonymous

Who is this angry anonymous commenter who keeps insisting that people who eat below a certain level have “no business” being at the table? Does he realize that this is COMPETITIVE EATING. Seriously, we’re talking about a buffalo wing eating contest here. Not who belongs in the Yankees starting line-up or who deserves a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Lighten up. And if you want to be taken seriously, start posting under your real name. People who post incendiary comments on here anonymously have no business being on this website.

Now I remember what I meant to comment on…how did Chip Simpson’s total go up almost HALF A POUND after a recount? That’s a little scary. Did someone forget to calibrate the scales again? Oh, those zany IFOCE judges.

Well said, MM – and thanks, Crazy Legs Mom!

As far as Chip’s numbers going up, I’m not sure, as I was not on stage to witness the recount. However, either way, he would have ended up in second. The scales were regulation digital deli scales, with tare capability to be reset to zero between each weight. I was told, though, that they were also extremely sensitive, and that with everybody milling around on stage (stages are not permanent fixtures, and therefore not entirely rock-solid stable), that there was some fluctuation as the trays were sitting on the scale. Doesn’t explain that big of a jump, but at least we are getting closer to an accurate accounting of numbers for everyone.

  24. mike landrich said

    September 2, 2007 @ 6:55 pm

One thing noteworthy, to me at least, was Sonya got her number from 3 trays of food, whereas Chip had 4 trays. Since we were supposed to try to clean the wing, it made her amount more impressive and true to the rule.

Last night I was flipping through the channels and caught the tail end of a live CNN HN interview with Sonya. There’s a video available at http://www.buffalowing.com. It’s good quality too. From the main link if you click on the Photo and Video link you’ll see it.

Lots of new records and solid performances in so many contests this weekend. I missed quite a bit, but it’s nice to get caught up.

I’m aware of all the totals, but does anybody have the official time for the Buffalo Buffet contest? I learned that it was stopped with less than 8 minutes and the total for Sonya was 5.95 lbs.

    What was Bob’s total?

    What were the other totals?

When will the official and complete results be posted on the IFOCE web site? I’m sure the other eaters would like to know their totals too.

Rhonda – I wasn’t using a timer on Sunday, so I’m not sure how long the contest went. If I had to guess, I’d say 6 minutes. I didn’t get the numbers from Ryan as he commentated the Amateur Wing-Eating contest after the Buffet Bowl, and when I asked him, he was rapidly packing up at 5:20 and he needed to get to the airport to catch a 6 PM plane. Judging from the time to drive from the stadium to the airport, he may have not made it.

If I hear from him, I’ll post what I get as far as numbers. He may put them up on the IFOCE website before he gets them.

    I’d like to know too!
