The Human Wet/Dry Vacuum

Mark “The Human Vacuum” Lyle has submitted another taco challenge video to youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRLUXb-Lqp8. “Picnic” rules are not used in this video and Mark Lyle is able to approximately halve his time to about 2 minutes.

That was a good run. The tortias make tacos hard. I did notice that even though dunked you really didn’t drink a whole lot. I hope to see you at a competition one day.

Mark Lyle has already competed in two IFOCE contests. I do not believe he will be allowed to compete in another.

I didn’t think IFOCE allowed dunk tanks anymore (where food is left soaking in a container). I was informed that most contests have a time limit on dunking, such as 5 seconds. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but would that technique fly at an IFOCE taco eating contest?

Also, I thought that IFOCE didn’t want people pouring water on the food either, just dunking it. But once again, somebody correct me if I’m wrong. I do realize the rules probably vary contest to contest as well, I’m just looking for the usual/norm.

I appreciate the good comments that people have posted. Thank you. While some out there still refuse to accept the points I made about the difference between picnic style rules, IFOCE rules and the talent level of AICE eaters.

Kevin If those rules exist I don’t know about them and they weren’t in place back in a similar contest I participated in in early 2005. No biggie, just clarification. I am almost certain that the IFOCE doesn’t care how eaters get the food down, just get it down. The bigger the number the better. That is their sell. Obviously they won’t allow dunk tanks for “bread” foods where the bread would all but disolve if left in the water. I have never heard of the 5 second dunk rule. Thanks again for your earlier support.

Someone else out there thinks they have their facts straight about me being allowed to compete in IFOCE contests and how many I actually competed in. I don’t think the Sheas harbor any bad feelings towards me. I think they know I am an honest guy who calls it how I see it. They run IFOCE like a business and it works for them. AICE is more “mom and pop” and that works for us. The only thing they can really hold against me is my affiliation with AICE. Do you think that if I signed on the dotted line they wouldn’t allow me to compete?

Don’t get me wrong, I think you are a skilled eater. I am going to be competing in IFOCE contests though, so the topic is of particular interest to me.

I researched it a bit and apparently in middle 2006 is when they created the 5 second rule, called Hardy’s rule (I guess probably named after Charles Hardy). Also, I read a rule thing they wrote for the krystals and apparently you’re not supposed to stuff your checks in the final seconds and they might provide penalties for that. Obviously the final seconds stuffing is an ignored/obscure rule, but the 5 second rule came up many times when I googled it, so I think it is the case (though once again, who knows how well it is enforced ). Though the meatball contest would lead me to believe they are getting much more strict about enforcing their rules and it really isn’t just allowable to eat it any way you want.

I also just read that usually they only allow people to use cups provided by the promoter.
