Tim Brown receives 2nd wild card slot
CompetitiveEatingNews reports that Tim Brown will receive a slot in the Nathan’s finals:
Gravy Brown, the most promising eater Chicago’s produced since the great Bertoletti, will also compete.
Much buzz has surrounded the Wild Card win of Shredder since he would have won the Civil Service qualifier outright had Rios Grande not competed. Investigative reports have suggested that Rios is not a civil servant and neither is Goldstein.

Hmmm, Rhonda makes a comment in another post that Tim will get a second wild card slot…… and he gets it. OK, who are you Rhonda? Is Rhonda Evans an anagram of some sort?
Congrats Tim. Good luck next week.

Congratulations, Arturo, Allen and Tim! You all deserve to be at the table on July 4. I was hoping that you would all make it and it worked out perfectly. Also, congrats to Bob with his win in the QVC qualifier. We’ve got our deepest field ever for the finals.

Shredder and Arturo both serve the people of NYC so both in my opinion should be there, congrats to you both.

See Tim, …I told you going to Charlotte was a good idea! Congrats!! My “next to you- Nathan’s lucky streak” for others continues….I was next to Tim, and Hall in Charlotte, Seaver in the QVC last year, and Bubba missed the finals by 1/2 a dog in Atlanta.
Is it possible for me to be next to me in my next contest?? I’m bringing a mirror!!

Carey thanks for the “complement,” but I really have no inside information. When I stated that Tim would receive a second wild card before the official announcement, I was just using fair, unbiased, deductive reasoning, based on what seemed like a decent, professional thing to do.
I believe that had the IFOCE taken a more hard-lined, rigid stance against making an exception here, the ramifications would have done more harm than good. (Perhaps I should have been a politician, who knows?)

It costs them nearly nothing to add him & creates some rare goodwill. It makes even the table enders FEEL respected.
Also, with the addition, I believe that brings the total @ the table only to 17. This may be less than the last year or two but they have had atleast 20 at the table in the past.

Yes, Tim. I told you you’d get in. Congrads, if I would get my schedule from work earlier I could have probably made arrangements to cheer you and Pat Bertoletti on at Coney, representing the best of Chicago!! Congrads again!

Good luck Brown Town
What the hell is Gravy Brown anyways ???

There’s no way I could of qualifed this year because I was unable to hit the deauce in practice a couple times, if i train more and earlier, next year I will give Nathans a shot. My philosophy is, if I can’t hit the deuce yet, there’s no point in trying Nathans, I will definitely try next year. The problem is, the bar has been raised and will probably raise higher by next year for the wild card. I imagine the same is true for other eaters of Illinois such as Fraggle Wach or The Hammer Jim Hammerick, I mean don’t get me wrong, maybe they have their own reasons for not entering a qualifier, I didn’t really talk to them. Once again, Congrads to all for making it to the big table. This year will be Coney’s best year, the #’s are gonna be big all Round and will have a record most HDB eaten overall.
