I was really proud of Juliet. She proved that is arguably the best female eater of all time. Widow is terrific and all of that yada yada, but I expect her to retire soon, because of MY Juliet’s meteoric rise. Anyway, she had a mighty run and helped mark the territory for Juliet that’s for certain, but there’s really only room for one great female eater and Juliet is now filling that spot. Koby has all but admitted that Juliet is the best female eater he has ever seen and that’s about as big of an endorsement as you can get.

Juliet did a fantastic job for her first crack at wing eating. Once she figured out what to do, she hit a really nice stride.

This is going to come to pass (regarding rankings) just like I said it might. Pat has finished ahead of Joey three times in a row grits (where Joey finished third), waffles, and now wings, and four out of five times since August. Yet, Joey will probably win Krystals and that will enable him to maintain his # 1 world ranking.

There’s a lesson here for all competitive eating fans. Your favorite eater had better learn to win or excel in HDBs or Krystals, the only two majors right now, or the person you root for will never be ranked # 1, regardless of how many contests in which he finishes ahead of the # 1 (on paper) ranked eater.

For rankings purposes, only those two contests count.

Allen Goldstein is overrated. Rios would have wiped the floor with him if his finger wasn’t damaged. US MALE is the real GOLDSTEIN MAKE NO MISTAKES ABOUT IT

Romeo, you’re on crack. Kobayashi didn’t “all but admit” that Juliet is the best female eater. He knows Sonya’s a better eater.

anyone that had the balls to tell the ifoce they had other commitments and couldnt do the shows deserve the highest medal of honor you can present to someone. Sonya Chip and Dale Boone should have their faces carved out on mt rushmore and replace the faces they already have on there . Boone knew he was going to be picked but told ifoce to go to hell . He chose dumplings instead knowing spike was not going to be the dale boone show. Note that most of the people that were invited seem to be the ones praising the production of the spike tv show on this website

ROMEO, Get real. Sonya would wipe the floor with Juliet. Juliet may someday catch her, but not yet.

Thanks “lets be real,” I tend to agree with you. As for the Spike production, it is what it is – schtick made for cable TV. It was well produced and CrazyLegs did an outstanding job. Here you go, an eater was not there and thought it was done well. I am sure there are many more that would agree.

Oh yeah, Sonya is the queen of CE and would beat Juliet easily in just about any food challenge.

The fact that Pat won I think shocked Spike TV all they could do was hype up Kobayashi and Joey and then Pat wins it was almost like they didn’t know what to say. Only Crazy Legs Conti finally started to realize that Pat was going to possibly win so he atarted talking about him. I hope Pat wins the turkey and ham competitions too so he can get his proper respect.

It’s shocking to see Kobayashi ranked third. I wonder what they’ll do with Sonya’s ranking after she doesn’t show up to Krystals.

While we’re at it, who coined the phrase “four horsemen of the esophagus”?

I thought it was coined for female eaters because thats where they all end up.

So do we know Rich and Tim’s totals? Or the rest of the wedge totals? Anyone? Bueller?

  20. Rhonda Evans said

See, that’s what I mean. How many days / how much pay did people have to give up to go there? Yet, their final totals aren’t worth mentioning? Sonya and Chip exercised much wisdom by not going to what amounted to a one-on-one contest between Bertoletti and Chestnut.

It will be the same thing at Krystals and Nathan’s. I guess eaters rationalize themselves into going by thinking about the TV coverage. But, in reality, unless you are regarded as having a snowball’s chance of winning, you’re wasting your time.

Fortunately for Rich, he is retired and lives near Vegas. I’d still like to see an official number for him, though. And Tim is another story entirely.

Not trying to be “Lerman-esque” here, but I actually coined the term “Table Ender” and am honored that it has come to be standard in the CE vocabulary.

I’m pretty certain it was in my blog… or maybe a comment on MegaMunch’s blog.

It was 9/29/06 in the “body” of the blog, and then 10/10/06 in the Title, “To the IFOCE table-enders”

    Derek,
I think it was me, but maybe it was you, and I do remember you being in the convesration. It was in a conversation that took place on EatFeats and MM concerning why we compete, even if we’re not making any money. We’ll have to go through MM’s blog to see who used it first!!!!!!

I’m not sure who coined it, but that’s a good question. I remember the first time I heard it was from something Steakbellie wrote, either on my blog or his blog. I may be wrong. It’d be cool to trace the origins of various CE lexicon back to their originators.
