My official statement about no longer competing in MLE contests (for anyone that doesn’t follow me on Instagram). Never let the big guy bully you around–you all should each have the most control over your future, whatever that may be. Be well, peeps.

“It’s official: I am done competing in Major League Eating contests, with last weekend’s Wendy’s Nugget eating contest being my last. I have been extremely distressed by the inadequate response to the blatant cheating that occurred at the 2024 Nathan‘s men’s Finals, as well as the Salvation Army Donut Eating Contest that occurred in June. It seems the only repercussion for the individual that cheated is a “quiet”, unpublicized suspension from a few contests on the MLE circuit. There has been no acknowledgment by MLE of the cheating that occurred, neither to signed eaters nor to the general public. Based on what I’ve seen transpire, I’ve concluded that 1. There are different levels of tolerance for breaking the rules for different individuals and 2. Ensuring the integrity of the sport is less important to MLE than maintaining their brand image and keeping their “Crown Jewels” (certain performers/eaters) happy. Many people warned me that nothing is likely to change despite multiple eaters complaining about the cheating, so I guess I was naive to think that “this time will be different”. It is for these reasons that I no longer wish to compete on the MLE circuit. If you can cheat at the “Super Bowl” of this sport and get away with it by using an Uno Reverse card and serving a small, slap on the wrist punishment, then it’s not just something I wish to be a part of.
I’m also distraught by the spin narrative that was used by the accused cheater, who claimed that those who brought about the cheating allegations were targeting him/his spouse. Rather than apologize and admit to cheating when caught with video evidence, this individual chose to deny the claims, lie to the press, and play the victim card. If I’m really the bad guy, then fine. Just let me know and I’ll request for my Nathan’s 2024 Finals total to be lowered to 33.5 HDBs.
But I’ll try to end on a high-note: it’s been a pleasure to meet, and eat with, most of you guys and gals. Keep doing your thing if you want to. But just remember, the people that matter in your life will remember you by who you are as a person, not by how many hotdogs you can eat in 600 seconds.”

I actually bought a signed Wehry trading card on ebay a couple of weeks before Nathan’s. I’ll cut you a sweet deal on it. lol!!!
Kind of takes me back to when I had Tiger’s rookie card before his first downward spiral.
I thought about pairing it with a copy of the 7/10 NY Post, but bought donuts instead.
I hope the nuggets were tasty anyway.

Paraphrasing Sean – “I signed a contract to get into the Nathan’s finals, with no intention of actually staying in MLE for three years. Luckily Nick cheated so I can break the contract and go back to beating up on amateur competitors under assumed names.”

There has not been any statement by MLE pertaining to any cheating. Therefore that means either they don’t believe you and steakbellie or they decided because it didn’t decide first or second place. Time to move on everyone

There is no part of the MLE contract that allows you to “break” it if cheating occurs. Plus, MLE has not even acknowledged the cheating, so even if there was such a clause, it would not be able to be used.
So don’t worry, I won’t be competing in MLE or independent eating contests. It’s good to know that I still have some haters out there though. Even though I have a pretty good idea who posted that “paraphrase”.
