    Expect a slew of comments ” Great work Joey” Awesome job , Your the greatest! Do us all a favor save the congrag and send it to his email address. The comments on this site is for objective and controversial commentary which makes this site so successful. All the ass kissing comments directed towards certain eaters really takes away from that. And for the assholes that come on here and use the word “HATER” . Get your damn word definitions straight. To “Hate” someone and to voice your opinion about someone is two different things.

    Isn’t it eerie how Joey has improved so vastly in such a very short time? Everyone, without exception, that I have ever seen in this sport, improved much, much more gradually — some more than others, of course. But Joey has abruptly gone from a great American eater to the Kobayashi level of eating almost overnight — almost literally.

    Hey Rhonda,

    There really isn’t anything “eerie” about Joey’s success at all. His numbers have been on a steady climb since he first qualified for Nathan’s in 2005, I think it was with like 20 1/2 HDBs. He was consistently edged out for at least 4 months by Sonya, and they continiued to swap 1st place for quite some time. I think his recent rise can be attributed to the fact that he takes this activity as serious as any other competitor ever has. And don’t forget about a few other eaters who have made some pretty incredible gains as well.

    Paul why’d u have to mention Sonya. She is not even close to Joey now. She was 2 months ago but 1 thing agree wth Ronda about is that joeys improvement id so vast its like hes on drugs or somethin. Somethins up and its more than practice or seriousness.NO person increases dogs by over 60 percent in a years time. Even Koby was at 50 his FIRST year. Im not a fool.

As matza ball champ I decided t o enter the nathans hot dog contest , untill that time nobody from one contest crosed over to another . I was the first to use my own ”nick name ” MOSES ‘ untill that time either theepromoter .or the spnser .or the press gave eaters thier ”nick name ‘ I wa sthe first to wear embrodered hats and shirt and pictur shie=rts in the contest
    I pionered the Phill wing Bowl for non philly residents , I ate dog food to get in so the Joey Chestnuts can drive away in new cars and eat steak hear me good I will shed the lbs and rise like the phenix to once again be the champion my fans once new ..Don Lerman

    Yes, we should fear the unknown and make wild accusations about things we know nothing about. It sounds like menchetti’s stupid ass. Unless someone saw him taking drugs, we must assume he’s clean. Thats sounds like that dumb ass saying the hot dogs were smaller. Perseverance, drive, and training your ass off for over 3 months allow people to do spectactular things.

    I was speculating on theories as to why the dramatic, unprecedented increases. I’m not the only one who’s of the opinion that there’s something fishy going on. Why, does it seem so impossible that the dogs might be smaller? For starters, they make several different varieties & sizes. Traditionally, they are the ridiculously thin long dogs, but I saw photos, or tape from one event that showed ballpark style dogs. Companies change things sizes, shapes, etc. all the time. With inflation,gas prices etc. why not make an ounce & a half dog instead of two? Its not like anyone thinks they’re above board to start with?!

    Before anyone other grammaticians put their two cents in, I accidently spelled which as witch in one of my last posts… I apologize!

    I think its great that some of you are so quick to throw accusations when you have absolutely no proof to back them up at all. You might want to try just giving someone credit where it is certainly due. Everyone seems to forget that there were 4 eaters this year who ate 30+ HDBs who didn’t even qualify for Nathan’s in 2005. How do you explain that? NOBODY IS ON DRUGS!!! These guys are either more talented than past competitors, or they just train that much harder than the rest. Maybe its both. Luther, I don’t know you, so I cant say you are a fool. But I will tell you that you are wrong.

    I wonder how many of the people on this site have ever taken the time to talk to the eaters that they so often talk shit about.

    Ever think that maybe they dont want to talk to us or share their secrets with us ? Huh Paul. No such a thing as training to eat.Maybe your brother is just pure talent . Congrag that he can do 3 gallons of water a day. 21 years on this earth is like a 2yr old car. If the doctor opens him up his insides still look like a new engine. Try opening up a 40+ yr old replace the transmission, replace the springs, even replace the engine. Point im making is, he has youth on his side . Pump three gallons of water daily in a 40+ yr old and they will be donating that persons organs when he drops dead which is real soon minus the kidneys!

    You can’t compare different contests, even with the same food, unless you have a food chain where preparation and the size / ingredients of the food is standardized — as in Nathan’s Hot Dogs. Nevertheless, Joey found a groove and was next to unstoppable in that contest.

    Paul the more you try to defend Joey on this site, the more you bring yourself down to the level of those throwing accusations. Stupid comments do not merit responses. When you do respond you empower them. And that’s why they continue to be prevalent on this site.

    Again, you don’t see top eaters comment on this site. But I’m sure that Legs, Tim, Sonya, and other notable eaters read this blog and just shake their heads. I’m happy for Joey that he himself rarely comments. It’s a shame you do, but I don’t blame you for trying to defend someone you love and respect so dearly. You’re a good brother and he must be as proud of you as you are of him.

    Ernest, obviously you have never attempted to talk to these competitors or even bothered to listen to one of the many interviews they have given. They are as down-to-earth people as you will ever meet and love talking to anyone showing a genuine interest in the sport.
