SonyaTheBlackWidow.com is currently down and brings up a generic search page. It also experienced an outage of several days after Sonya announced she would miss last year’s Krystal finals and for more than a week after the controversial 2006 meatball contest.

    Maybe it’s just me, but isn’t this sort of trivial to make a topic of discussion?

    But since it is that, I’ll briefly conjecture too. As I recall, September is the birthday month for STBW.com, as it is for BB’s site. Perhaps she didn’t renew the site, for whatever reason, or is late in renewing it.

    Maybe it will be up today, next week, next month, next year, or never. With or without it, Sonya will still be Sonya. She is not defined by her Web site.

    Enough of that. I’m grabbing a Journal to read while I sit on the throne in the ladies’ room.

    Rhonda , that is her way of telling the unappreciative ifoce to go fuck them themself. She is not into the self pity thing like Don Lerman. I think Don should have done the right thing and dropped his website alltogether instead of trying to be Tim Russert. Have you noticed with the exception of a couple of stupid remarks, not one person bothers to comment on his editorial

    Her site doesn’t expire till next year. All of the info seems valid if you do a lookup on the domain.

    Withholding her website from the rest of us does nothing to advance any cause she might have. Eaters may occasionally read the site because it’s there and they have nothing better to do with their time, but it never breaks news, and very few people will actually miss it. If suspending her site is any kind of a tactic, it’s a stupid one.

    anonymous, I have to say I always liked Don’s site, and he has a wonderful sense of humor. I always liked his, BB’s, and Sonya’s pages for different reasons.

    I liked to at least read Brian’s take on things. I liked Don’s humor, and I like Sonya’s positive slant on everything.

    anonymous 9:49 it is the only way she can vent her frustration by sending out a message . She is not into the ranting thing so this is how she lets the shea’s know how she feels. That entire organization has gotten away with murder all these years treating people like shit. Maybe it is time they get a taste of their own medicine for a change.

    The Shea’s aren’t going to lose any sleep if she retires. If she jumps ship, I’m sure then they’ll do something but they don’t care about the eaters. They will find someone else to throw a couple of bucks to and exploit. I am a fan and I appreciate what she’s done for competitive eating, but what she does isn’t as shocking to the public as it was a few years ago. Sure, she has a following but she isn’t the reason the general public gives a crap about competitive eating. The public likes the freak show we give them but they don’t care who is on stage. As long as we continue to eat more than they can and there’s the possibility of someone booting on stage, they will watch. The majority of the contests are local events, no one travels long distances just to see a contest. The only way people will travel is if there is some associated festival or event but the perceived following just isn’t there. Aside from Koby and maybe Joey, Joe Public doesn’t make arrangements to go to see a contest. It just doesn’t happen and it only matters to us if she stays or goes.

    I beg to differ , too scared to use my real name. In the 6 yrs i’ve blogged , whenever i ran an editorial piece on an IFOCE eater, besides sonya, i average between 25 & 30 hits if im lucky.. When i run a piece on Sonya , multily that number x 5 . Juliet’s numbers are not far from those either. There are times when the numbers are even higher than that. Just proves that Sonya sells and nobody can deny that .

    Has anyone ever wondered why Nancy Goldstein is no longer the director of operations and client services with the IFOCE? I think its safe to say she was not fired or asked to resign. She could not deal with the bullshit anymore

    Frankly, I think if Koby, Sonya, or anyone else dropped dead all the Sheas would do is write a one-or two-page summary of his or her career, and 5 minutes later they’d be all but forgotten.

    The IFOCE image, seal, or whatever you want to call it ,shouldn’t be two griffins sharing a hot dog, it should be two vampires sucking the blood from a top eater-turned corpse.

    As usual, Rhonda Evans has to put alot more then her two sense in by letting us, the readers, know how much free time she has in her life. Please Rhonda, you promised to go away. At least keep your long winded worthless opinions to a sentence or two. Your poor spouse; if talk as much as you right….he must have alot of headaches.
