Brian Seiken has also started the fall season of his video podcasts with a show featuring Joe LaRue
(From Luther) Sonya Thomas did not do a hometown contest because she is doing a contest in Hong Kong this weekend (.doc file)
Updated 10:02 pm – steakbellie fan Wendy Scherer attended the contest and wrote a blog entry about it. The winner of the amateur contest was a woman (maybe megamunch’s friend the Pizza Princess”) who ate 11 slices in ten minutes.
Updated 8/13 4:38 pm – The Washington Post has an article with a picture and information about the amateur winner, Juliet Lee, who said she was inspired by Sonya Thomas. Like “The Black Widow”, Ms. Lee is 39 years old and about 5’4″ and 105 lb.
WTOP radio has an AP article about the contest
Updated 8/14 12:45 am – megamunch has a blog entry and gallery of the contest

Thanks for the credit OJ, but nothing I do can compare with what folks like you and brian seiken. do. And I really am a sonya fan thanks to the many postings on this site. She also has a nice site herself.

Just got back and there were a few funny rules on this one. First there was NO DUNKING. Second, crust was optional, 4 – crusts = 1 slice deduction. There was no guidance on how much crust was acceptable to leave. Some eaters ate the crust, some did not and accepted the deduction.
I believe all of the top 4 ate the entire crust, but many of the 18 eaters didnt and it made it difficult to compare apples to oranges. I ate 10.5 slices but didnt eat the crust, so with the deduction it would be 8 slices or so. I’m an exremely clean eater and only left the bottom .5″ out of fairness, I think some other guys left more than an inch. It was an interesting idea but should be left out of the next pizza competition. Everybody should be required to eat the same thing.
The best I could tell is that I came in 9 or 10. Mongo probably had a bite on me so he was probably 8th

I was at the contest not as an eater and some of these guys after 5th place would not even do well in the AICE especially the losers that barely ate 10 slices or less. You guys really really suck. Debris all over the place . Do yourself a favor and find another losing hobby like knitting or shuffleboard. A few of the alias names that appear on this site from time to time competed and showed their true colors as LOSERS! You can hide but it always comes out somewhere down the line.

From what I remember of the horseshoe, these are the unofficial results of the contest. But this is the correct order of the top 6. There was
These 4lb trays of fries, cheese, and hamburger patties with toast on the bottom. Very difficult contest.
Joey chestnut 1st place 6.5lbs
Tim Eater X Janus 2nd place ??
Tim Brown 3rd place 3.9lbs
Frank Wach 4th place ???lbs
5th place 3 way tie 3.2lbs
Bubba yarbrough
Jim Hammer Hamrick
Kevin Carr
Domenico the Sicilian Alesi 6th place 2.8lbs
That’s all for now, I am using a phone to type this in so….I am sorry for sloppiness.
7th 8th 9th????

My only comment is that they need to have more than just one I.F.O.C.E. representitive at an event, and not leave judgement calls up to restaurant staff….on to ribs! 🙂

Yo Something to Say2U,
Since you weren’t there as an eater I think you should f*ck off.

My only comment is that there should be more than one A.IC.E. memeber in the audience to bitch about the contestants.
It should be noted that Philbin and Subich showed patience and grace after being announced (and presented with placks and checks on stage) as the 3rd and 4th place, and then the announcer realized that they screwed up and took them away from them! If it was me it would have spent already….
GREAT show guys!

I spoke to Subich .He told me there was some bitching about 5th place . I heard that Shredder got credit for 10 and he made an issue about that and swore he ate 12 but from what i was told he got credit for 11. He called me and said he tied with Subich for 5th . I was not there so i am just going by the info that was passed on.Aside from that , anyone that can eat one pie straight up without dunking is a champ in my book,

dang, I wish I would’ve been there.
I thought I would, but ended up not getting to the area until around 2:30pm… then had to drop the girlfriend off for her interview @ Discovery. (just thought I’d mention it, since it might be thought by some people that the earlier AICE related post was me)
Anyway, great post, steakbellie.
everyone should have to eat it the same.
And did someone say No Dunking?
Can you say, “Picnic Style Rules?”
I’ll see y’all around.

I love those pics steakbellie. Notice they put Shredder & Phenom together. Look what i started with that father and son shit. Its just a goof if anyone took that serious. Let me add there is really no resemblance between both of them. They have very similar mannerism when approaching the table.Stone cold intensity. Myself and others have picked up on that but thats where it ends. If anyone is interested in an unusual pizza story check out my lastest story. Rarely do i hype any of my stories on another website but this is interesting. Pizza place in bklyn ny called Di’faras which went from a mediocre pizza joint to a two hour wait for a slice. this is the video link of the owner making a pie . Judge for yourself. copy and past this link. For some reason i cant get it to hyperlink . http://video.google.fr/videoplay?docid=6239019285017019428

Now that i think of it they did me a favor . im getting up in age so back to back contests might have been a bit too much. Same here looking forward to meeting you and some of the newer guys like Eric the red. Heard nothing but good things about you.

Yeah, that was a great contest. My first indoor event (as an eater or spectator). HAve to say, I prefer outdoor contests. They have a more “state fair” kind of feel. Freer, more open. But this one was cool in its own right.
Was there anyone at that table in their first IFOCE contest? I don’t think so. How often does that happen?

Yeah, one of the guys at your end was a first timer from MD. I forget his name though.

I was amazed at Menchetti’s commanding presense at the baby back contest on sunday. If i knew he was present while we were competing i would have made an extra effort to puke just so he wouldnt come to the false conclusion that i ate 1.1lb of ribs and finished 15th??? . I didnt notice he was there until after the contest. If anyone cares he predicted that he would have finished 3rd or 4th if he was given a chance to compete.
That was a good one BB said

That last sentence made me laugh BB. That is the funniest thing I have heard since March 18, 2006. I would tell you that joke but it isn’t appropriate for this site.

I got lucky and Difara’s pizza wasnt busy. I have never ever tasted pizza this good. I ordered a pie with everything because i will have to wait hours if i ever get a chance like this again. Anyone that lives in nyc or bklyn get your butt down there you have never tasted pizza this good. I hyped it on my site and im hyping it now. I tasted the goods and its GOOD! No better yet AWESOME!
