Aug 20 Saratoga Nathan’s qualifier for 2008 finals

The first qualifier for the 2008 Nathan’s finals will be held at the Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga, New York on Monday August 20. Registration is now open.

103.1 FM in Albany has a photo gallery of Friday’s Steer Burger contest at Sutter’s Mill and Mining Company which “Gentleman” Joe Menchetti won by eating 7.5 burgers in 20 minutes. The burgers contained a half a pound of meat and Menchetti claims they are equivalent to 3-4 Doodle Burgers.

Saratoga Race Course Ice Cream Contest

Three days after the cancelled Nathan’s qualifier, the Saratoga Race Cource holds a (non IFOCE/AICE) ice cream contest. It seems like it would have made sense to hold the Nathan’s qualifer in conjunction with the ice cream contest on Wednesday and avoid the conflicts with all the August 21 contests.
