Dragon Boat Festival dumplings results
Please place results from the dumpling eating contest at the Dragon Boat Festival in Queens, NY today in the comments to this post. BeautifulBrian reports that Dale Boone competed in the contest, which is not an AICE contest, but has had AICE eaters compete in previous years.
This blog entry reports that the women’s winner outate the men’s 43 dumplings to 41. I will be very interested to learn who the female winner is if that is the case.

The female winner was Floria Lee w/40 something. Last years winner came in 2nd. I’m sorry, I forget her name.
I won the men’s w/60. I forget the guys name who came in 2nd w/ 41. The Mouth O’ the South came in 3RD w/39.
It is not an AICE contest, but it was reasonable for BB to assume so.

Does it matter if it was aice sanctioned ? He competed with aice affiliates. Not much difference. I didnt go after this story . It was spoon fed to me by a reliable source. If i have to sensationalize it to the highest degree to please the readership , then so be it. He has gotten away with murder throughout the years . He always appears to weather the storm no matter how much disciplinary action is applied . I have no idea as to how they will handle this one

It is the CHEF ONE dumpling eating contest. It is held at the Dragon Boat Festival.

I think there’s a difference between an event being “AICE sanctioned” and simply eating against AICE eaters in an independent contest. Just like if I were to eat against (pick any ranked MLE eater) in a local wing contest. That doesn’t make that contest an IFOCE/MLE contest.

Good job, Joe. I think the story here is the possibility now of comparing league eaters, now that there is a recent event with an eater from both in it. Man, I totally forgot about this event, I would have liked to compete against Boone had I known he was going to be in it.

yeah eating against aice eaters is not the thing to focus on……him eating in an independent (non ifoce) contest — a clear contractual violation — is the thing to look at…………………

hi names chris yee i am the second place winner in the mens divisons this was my first eating event ever and it was alot of fun to eat against competative eaters not that i knew anyone . but it was alot of fun. to watch you eat joe i was cheering you on and i must admit it was crazy that you called the number you would eat and hit it. congrats. for me it was for the fun of things.

Dale Boone was there??? I was in that competition as well — women’s division, obviously, but we were all seated and lined up together before going on stage — and I don’t recall seeing him there. Unless…
To those of you who posted who were also in the competition: Was Dale the (other) big guy who was talking to Joe (the men’s winner) a lot while we were all seated?
On a side note, that was a fun contest! Too short, though. IT WAS MY VERY FIRST EATING COMPETITION and I placed 4th out of 24. I missed the $300 3rd place check by only 6 dumplings! SIX!! Darn.
