The Gringo Bandito Chronic Tacos Challenge will take place at the Sabroso Craft Beer, Taco & Music Festival in Doheny Beach, CA on April 8. Takeru Kobayashi is expected to defend his title. Additional competitors include Molly Schuyler, Dave Brunelli, Erik Lamkin, Naader Reda, Kevin Ross and Finnish champion Jesse Pynnönen. A contest for amateurs will also be held.

    Koby doesn’t rig his contests. He simply is the best. He cannot go up against MLE Joey or Carmen or any other MLE eater. That is unfortunate but was his choice. Molly and Pat have proven their talents. Enough already of “cheating”.

    What it boils down to is greed. Kobe could have stayed with MLE be more recognized in his craft and still made money competing in the circuit. For whatever reason he chose not to compete in the MLE circuit all these years except for maybe Krystal burgers and Nathans. Whether Sheas offered him 15k to sign the contract and an additional 15k and an apology after his arrest remains to be seen but he still had it better before he left . Hardly anyone remembers or cares about him since then

    Brunelli should really listen to the advice from @5:58. Dave’s and Erik’s totals have been pretty similar at the gringo bandito. The difference is that Dave actually ate pretty cleanly while Erik left a shit ton of meat in each tray.     Why would Kobayashi hand-pick Molly? He does have a two-contest/challenge win streak against her (Chronic Tacos last year and Taco in a Bag), I believe, but either one is capable of winning. Sounds like a dangerous choice to me.
