I think this is great. BB puts something very interesting on YouTube and OJ posts on this site with credit to BB. These 2 sites can coexist and compliment each other. This site gives you straight news and BB does editorials and more behind the scene stuff. I like both sites!

Brian is pretty knowledgeable of the history of competitive eating. I will enjoy watching these.

To see where the stars got there start. It ls nice to see the old school back in style. Sad to know most are out of the spot light except Crazy Legs and Dale Boone. Boone being the bigger of the two stars. Boone now days are known world wide to were Crazy legs stay at home.

Thanks for posting those BB! In a way, those Gutbusters videos are the competitive eating equivalent of what D.W. Griffith’s “Birth of a Nation” was to the film industry, for those videos reflect the pioneers of competitive eating, on whose shoulders eaters of today stand.

I certainly include BB when I use that term, pioneer,” given the time, energy, and enthusiasm he has long devoted to the sport he loves. I cannot think of a single person who has given, or made himself available in support of, CE.

You know, it’s nice to come here and see peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect for an array of contributions to CE. It’s good to see peoples’ efforts appreciated on their own merit, without being sliced, diced, compared, weighed, and picked at.

Other notable and equally interesting early CE programs are Red, White and Yellow, Gutbusters II, and Travel Channel’s Battle of the Buffet. If BB has access to these shows, please post.

Of those three I’ve only heard of Gutbusters II.

I’m not sure what it was called, but about seven years ago I saw a program that was about an hour long, including commercials—-Travel Channel I think—- whereby Hungry Charles, Dale Boone, Legs, and several others were in Alaska. (And it was over a year old when I saw it.) The eaters had to go out and cut down their own Giant Cabbage, which they would competitively eat later. Charles won that event..

It was really interesting. It actually showed Legs and Dale practicing together and cheering for/pulling for one another. I just cannot remember what it was called.

I have them all. When i get a chance i will post them this week. RWY is missing the last 10 minutes which is the most important part 1997 Nathans finals. . Not sure if its worth posting if its not complete

I thought that Gutbusters II was Gutbusters in Alaska. Think only Boone, Legs and Charles were the eaters who went and each one won a contest with perhaps a record which still stands today.

    BB,

If you could, post everything you have. I’ve only seen MLE vol. 1 and the Conti doc (available on Netflix)… everything else I either don’t know of or don’t know where to look/find…

Also, if anybody has a link or video to the latest one “I’m a major league eater” (I believe that’s what it was called) where camera and crew followed, Gravy, Juliet, Conti and X around leading up to Oysters, that would also be much appreciated.

Well 20 hrs and 15 minutes have passed since the last Seiken update on eatfeats. I guess Rifkin was so impressed with Gutbusters that he just couldnt help but credit Seiken with the upload . Like i said expect the next Seiken plug on this site to occur sometime around 2015 Also note that OJ Rifkin did not plug the Gutbusters link from BB.com just youtube . What does that tell you? Possibly that Seiken site isn’t worth a plugged nickle as far as he’s concerned.
