The top 4 of today’s Goya National Black Bean Eating Championship held at the Central Islip Islandia Festival have been posted:
1. Tom “Goose” Gilbert 11LBs 1 oz. $1,000
2. Ian “The Invader” Hickman 9 LBS 1oz. $500
3. “Fabulous” Floria Lee 6 Lbs 6 oz $250, sanctioned contest debut
4. “Gentleman” Joe Menchetti 6 Lbs 3 oz

All the eaters deserve alot of credit for eating Black Beans. This food is one of the toughest foods to
eat in a 10 minute competition. Pay respects to all eaters who attempted this tough competition.
They are all true food warriors.

I think Goose is right up there with Furious Pete and I think those two are also better than the two ifoce darlings chestnut and bertoletti. What hapopened to Joe? How can you let a girl beat you Joe?

I would have had 3rd but I freaking reversed again. I was going to stop because those beans were gut busting, especially when you’re barely chewing anything, which was probably my mistake, but the drive to at least place, got me overzealous.
These last two AICE sanctioned contests were good lessons for me.
Floria was awesome up there, I’ll be looking forward to seeing her more.
