Why does everyone come to the conclusion that Mike and Kate left the IFOCE. Juliet Lee mentions in her update They were probably released due to budget cuts.If sponsors cannot sign on with IFOCE that means the Shea’s will have a hard time paying salaries to their employees. Duh??? Considering many of the old sponsors are going out of business , you wont see very much as far as competitive eating contests. Gone are the days where extra money was thrown around for advertising . Now they are just looking to survive.

Why do you put an apostrophe between the a and the s in Sheas? The plural of Shea is Sheas not “Shea’s.”

Maybe he’s trying to say the Sheas are possessed. 🙂

If what Juliet maintains is true about Kate and/or Mike, having to be released because of budget cuts, that’s an unfortunate sign of the times.

Next to George, Mike was the second best CE MC I ever heard, and he was the MOST personable. He wasn’t a fake either; he was the real deal … a classy human being.

Give me one good reason why they would leave unless they were told we cannot afford to pay your salary or take a huge pay cut . No contests spell no dinero. A good portion of their salary is based upon commission. Do you honestly think George and Rich have lots of money to throw around? Whatever happened to Matt. He certainly did not last very long now did he?

Where, oh, where does Juliet say that Kate and Mike were let go for budgetary reasons?

    Nowhere.

So why do you guys keep writing that she did?

And why would anyone go to the trouble of pretending that left for any other reasons than the true ones?

And what would be the point in laying off Mike in order to save money? You could keep him on call forever. He only gets paid when there are contests. He’s not a full-time employee.

Rhonda, I don’t think Juliet is saying that Kate or Mike were released at all, budget cuts or not. I think the first anonymous poster is trying to make that assertion. All I read into Juliet’s comment is that she liked them both, they’re no longer with the organization, and she wishes them well in their future endevors – pretty much what we would expect from a classy, nice lady like Juliet.

The ifoce did a good job getting three different generations of eaters. Maybe juliet can share some eating experiences from the world war 2 era.

Kate was not doing a good job and the Eaters complained about her too much.I think she got fired

This should be interesting . One eater(juliet) that struggles with broken unintelligible english and the other (crazy legs) will attempt to dazzle us with confusing psuedo intellectual double talk like manual to oral dexterity blah blah . Give me reruns of gutbusters 1 anytime over that.

anony 2:19 if you have been keeping a close eye on the turnover ratio with shea communications /ifoce over the years . there was never a mention of anyone getting fired of layed off. It’s about pride . Do you think anyone is going to admit they were shown the door? When a couple gets divorced rarely does the woman admit her spouse dumped her . She usually tells you it’s the other way around which is bullshit. It’s called saving face

I think its safe to say that Mike was freelance, he was never in the office, however he seemed to handle a great deal of the annual shows…why he is no longer w/ the IFOCE? Maybe he wanted a full-time position w benefits, insuranc…etc. And right now buisness is terrible! As for Kate … I think she was pressured very hard in the office w/ the bulk of the work, and I imagine working under George could be more stressful than its worth. Besides she’s got a gig in Italy , she is probably drinking good wine and eating great food, getting hit on by everything w/ a hard connoli. Could be the life for a young woman! At this moment…due to CE inactivity, I think they won’t be missed…Which is too bad because they were both good people and great proffesionals. When the season gets going again in the spring time (hopefully), thier abscence will be tremendous. How will they be replaced? Will long time sponsors be happy w/ thier replacements? They better give Ryan Nerz a raise, cause looks like his work just 2x. If they loose Ryan the sheas will find out if the posperous years have made them soft. They’ll either have breakdowns, or do half the normal shows!
