Ouch!! Rub it in, that sounds awesome. Everyone should be treated appropriately like rock stars. Don’t forget to plan two entries – one for the crowd and one for ESPN.

Based on the scheduled time of the contest to begin (4:30 pm EST) and the current time in Chattanooga, Tennessee , the Krystal countdown clock is 2 hours and 30 minutes behind. The countdown will hit zero at 7:00 pm EST.

My math is correct. I am on the west coast, it’s 11:30 am and the Krystal countdown clock reads 3 days, 4 hours, 30 minutes. That’s 4:00 pm PST on Saturday, 7:00 pm EST.

I am in Georgia, on the East Coast. It is 3PM here and the countdown timer reads 3 days..00 hours..59 mins..46 sec..
According to my math, it says the contest starts at 4 PM East Coast time

But wait. I am in Utah – mountain time zone. It’s now 1pm here. The KSO countdown reads 3 days, 3 hours. That would be Saturday at 4pm here. That is 6pm in Chatanooga. For someone in the central zone it probably comes out to 4pm there, which is 5pm in Chatanooga. Huh? is probably in the eastern time zone where it probably comes out to 4pm, which is 4pm in Chatanooga. I guess it’s not factoring in time zone.

So we’re all correct.

Wow, who knew our Countdown Clock would be a point of so much discussion.
Erik, you are right, but you are also wrong. The Countdown Clock is set to recognize the time on your computer’s internal clock, and figure out the countdown from there.
While there are a lot of eaters and competitive eating fans in the Eastern Time Zone, we know there are countless others outside of that time zone. The Countdown Clock is accurate wherever you are, as long as your computer’s clock is right. Also, the countdown is to 4:00 pm EST, the beginning of the ESPN2 live broadcast.

ESPN 2 is broadcasting from 4:00 to 5:00 PM EST. I guess they’ll miss the whole thing. Erik, perhaps you should straighten them out.

As always, there is an East Coast bias. Krystal programmed the countdown to coincide with your computer time zone setting – it will count down to 4:00 pm on Saturday in whatever time zone you are in- I adjusted my time zone to East Coast on my computer and the Krystal clock was suddenly correct. It’s a slap in the face to the rest of the country or just poor programming.
