The Foodabluza facebook announces that Pat Bertoletti and Sonya Thomas will be competing at its eating contests on April 26 and 27 in Altmore, AL and will pay $10,000 to a competitor that defeats them (There is no information about who is eligible to receive the bonus). The festival will also hold oyster and taco contests for amateurs on those days awarding $750 ($500 to the winner).

Fabricated prize money that will never be payed out because nobody can beat either of them unless Jaimie is allowed to compete

Pat and Sonya should lose on purpose and split the 10K with the person who beats them.

They both have more pride and integrity than to do that.

I’m sure both of them would love to see Jamie compete. 🙂

    I’m POSITIVE there’s a no-pro clause. Casinos aren’t stupid.

Even if they were (stupid), I’m sure George or Rich would be most happy to advise them.

10:34 — Now that’s funny. Jamie McDonald can’t beat Juliet Lee, yet he’s going to beat Sonya Thomas, or, and please stop me before I snart, Pat Bertoletti? I’m sure Sonya and Pat are begging you, please try to eat against them. Then, once and for all, you and your brother can go back to trying out for “Rock Hard Abs” info-commercials. I guess it’s fun being the number one Ranked APE eater. You can be number one at something without having to be very good at it. But, I liked it better when Stephanie Torres was ranked the number-one APE, what happened to that? Oops, I forgot, an amateur came along and kicked her ass. How come “Teddy” isn’t now ranked the number three APE eater? I was once the number-one ranked kick ball champion of my back yard, that was fun too.

Pat already crushed Jamie once at Boneless wings last year.

It’s probably wasted breath, but the Jamie McDonald of today is not the same man who faced Pat or Sonya last year. He’s gotten considerably better – witness his latest run through Oregon, Utah and Chicago, and the Big Mama pizza challenge. Rumor has it he won an eating contest just hours before tanking down 12 lbs of pizza at that team challenge. Anyone who bets against McDonald is betting against reality. Your quips against APE aside, and keep in mind that 90% of Jamie’s feats take place outside of APE’s confines, Jamie is rapidly rising in ability and accomplishment. Whatever beef you have with APE, remember that Jamie is not APE. Yes, he represents them and is represented by them, but what Jamie does at the table should not be confused with decisions taken by APE leadership for better or for worse. Stephanie Torres and Eric Dahl were ranked #1 by that organization during periods in which they were largely unchallenged and unthreatened. They often won very close contests or lost to lower ranked eaters (part of the reason, of course, why they were both replaced in the rankings). McDonald is a different beast entirely. There are only a handful of people who can outdo Jamie, and even then they wouldn’t do so consistently.

Good One Said hey get your facts straight you dummy Jamie has beaten Juliet Lee http://eatfeats.com/query.php?_table=contests&id=11547 and I also think he can beat Sonya Thomas and no im not a Jamie supporter I do think he is a great eater but I also think hes all in it for the money and thats why he didnt join MLE because he knows he can profit more from not joining them. I also think he would never beat Joey Chestnut and thats another reason why he decided not to join MLE. Let’s face it if he really wanted to see if he could be the best in the world he wouldve made the jump to MLE. I also think him being a humanitarian and a nice guy is also an act….

    Yep, probably wasted breath.

Neither you nor any management (we’ve figured that part out) is going to make this poor little dude anything more than what he really is. Let’s leave it at that. No hating, but maybe just for a minute, does Super Jamie have a life at all? A young guy with super bad teeth and a great cut bod..He’s beaten everyone in my neighborhood. I’m wicked impressed. We’ve all seen this game before. At some point, ask the veterans, you want to get a freaking life. I don’t care how highly you’re ranked in APE, eventually you’ll figure out that being a big fish in a very small pond doesn’t really make you what you think you are.

How dare you try to insinuate that Jamie is not a humanitarian? He has given to so many worthy causes . His unselfish acts of kindness and goodwill far exceed his eating ability

hey its only a 1 minute contest, you have to est them out of the shells one at a time, someones gonna get cut on the shells

Even I have sense enough to know that Jamie is a top-tier World Class eater. IMHO, if he were in MLE, he would earn a rank somewhere between #5 and #7 (if not higher), and with the ability to upset the top three or four once in a while. Miki is one heck of an eater too, as are Randy Santel and Eric Dahl.

Why must people act so resentful of them or anyone else who touts their own success? That’s called pride in accomplishment, and it’s done out of happiness, not arrogance. One thing they DO NOT do is disrespect their fellow competitors in public. Some of the people who post on this site could take a lesson—-including me at times.

If the people bashing them would put as much thought and effort toward accomplishing their own objectives, they would feel better about themselves. Consequently, the need to lambast others would markedly wane.

Humanitarian nope don’t think so. He might act as one but he only does it because he can get attention from his so called good deeds. By attention I mean press coverage, publicity, etc… I’ve met him in person and I have a good read on people. I might be wrong maybe but my gut steers me in this conclusion. Also Rhonda I agree with he could be top 5 in mle but just like I said he won’t because that’s not where the money is. I can say this he is smart the way he approached everything. All about that $$$$$ Also Rhonda I have seen him belittle other eaters he has a sly way of doing it like when randy Santell did the bad happy challenge he went and posted how that’s not a real poutine challenge and posted a link on his 15lb challenge in Canada. Yes you can be proud of your accomplishments but there is another thing to be cocky….

Jamie resume used to read that he worked as an aeronautics engineer. It seems that been pulled . He might not be employed at this point because he has plenty of time to hop on planes and go from state to state doing eating challenges twice a week . Maybe the wife supports him

It’s a shame that some people are hell-bent to find imperfections in peoples’ “personality flaws.” I know scores of really decent individuals with of varying talents and levels of those attributes, who, at one time or another, might have said or done something they’re not proud of.

That we can remember those isolated instances tells me that those are likely the exceptions. That’s what news is, reporting about exceptions to the norm.

I too strongly doubt Jamie would want to eat in MLE, even if given the opportunity. It’s not to his advantage, neither money-wise nor freedom-wise, and he’s intelligent enough to know that—-same with Randy, Eric, and Miki.

Shame is putting it mildly Rhonda. Past skeltons from closet like Gavonne stalking conviction, Miki terrorist conviction and last but not least Wrecking Ball DWI and domestic violence arrests should be banned and tossed from the records. All three are pretty decent human beings . More like misnunderstood
