Rich LeFevre wins Memphis Krystal qualifier

The Krystal Square Off twitter has the top 3 of this afternoon’s qualifier in Memphis:

1. Rich LeFevre 52 burgers
2. Juris Shibayama 51
3. Erik Denmark 50

If these are the official results the 3 wild cards will be:
1. Sonya Thomas 55
2. Juris Shibayama 51
3. Badlands Booker 51

If a fourth wild card is added Crazy Legs Conti or Erik Denmark would claim the slot with 50 burgers depending on whether Conti broke Denmark’s previous result of 43.

    Legs can still be involved as a TV commentator. He’s good in that role and arguably more valuable to the IFOCE when he’s behind the microphone than when he’s behind the table (no offense to his eating skills). In that regard, he’s sort of like the John Madden of competitive eating.

    What did i tell you . They found a way to get a 4th wild card so Conti could get in. I honestly believe that they would cancel the event if Conti was not allowed to compete . I am getting so sick and tired of this repetitive bullshit year in and year out.

    Rich, Juris and I all had 52 down (or 8 boxes left on 3rd tray if you prefer). George was deadset on deductions after what happened at Nashville – I took one burger away from my mouth at the end of regulation because it was sticking out (that was fair). Kenny gave me credit for 51 but George insisted on deducting one more from my total for stuffing at the end – . Juris was deducted 1, Rich none. That’s fine, I just hope they are consistent in the finals. Juliet’s performance last week obviously has caused a backlash. Crazy Legs had 48 but they are not going to add a 4th wildcard, no chance.

    I’m happy that I made it into the finals. No excuses, although for whatever reason the Krystals today were harder than last week, and I still stand behind my 55 last week. I don’t have any complaints about today’s juding. Rich had 52 clean, and I had 51 clean. I did not see what Erik had, so I cannot comment. I’m happy that Badlands made it in.

    I’m still upset about what happened in Nashville last week, and I’ll tell you why. It’s bad enough that Juliet’s shenanigans further weaken our arguement that CE is a legitimate sport. It’s bad enough that she came into my home town, and took what I feel to be rightfully my title. I can get over that. But the thing I am most upset about is that my daughter had a wonderful day at the zoo today, WITHOUT HER FATHER, because I was worried about whether or not I would make it to the finals. So instead, I spent 8 hours in a car, driving back and forth to Memphis, instead of spending a precious day with her. I bust my hump 60+ hours per week, working for my patients, and am on call every 4th weekend or so, and I have limited, quality time with my daughter. Today could have been a great day for us. Instead, Juliet took that away from me, and for that, I am furious. Maybe it’s because of what I do for a living, but I think about the effect my actions have on others. You may not like the bravado, ego, etc, but that doesn’t hurt anybody. When you willingly, knowlingly, and purposefully hurt others, that is reprehensible. Pre-chew on that for a while. Dr. Bigtime has spoken.

When i bitch and whine about injustice it is for a reason and not always for selfish reasons like some of the anonymous dicks on this site accuse me of. . For once don’t be bashful in posting your true identity for fear we might cross paths at an upcoming contest. Carey, the arrogant ass that he is, at least has the balls to post his real name. Yes it is true i have a new song coming out called “The Cheater” . It could be about anybody but i have the right to express what i feel in this song regardless of who’s feelings get hurt. There are some people in competiive eating that have told me “Oh Brian we consider you our friend” . No such thing. Friends are valued people you know more than 10 years. These are people that will come to bat for you in times of dire need. . So speak carefully when you use the term “friend” . A more fitting word is competitive eating aquantaince. If i found out that someone was trying to kill me and i asked for your help would you come to bat for me? I doubt it and i would never ask for that kind of help because your family is the only thing in life worth protecting. People say the Shea’s run a business so dont expect to be nurtured by them . Same applies here. I run a website. If i mention something in my editorial that doesnt sit right with you , too fuckin bad. What is the point if you cant speak your mind?. On the flip side you have every right to slam me on your site the same way i slam you. So keep that in mind for future references when you use the word “friend” . I have no friends in competitive eating.There are some nice people that i chat with at contests or on the telephone but thats whre it ends I have a non profit business to run and thats that. In this day and age a good friend is hard to find .

    Bigtime, you should be proud, and you deserve your finals spot…but, chill, brother. Juliet is not an evil person, just a good-looking, terribly sloppy eater. I’ll bet she never eats that sloppy again, I’m sure she realizes she was fortunate to make it in. From what I saw and have heard, Badlands was the only clean eater at that Nashville table. You could have also had more deductions – just be happy. Badlands, we are all happy that you made it!!
    Crazy Legs is deserving of everything he gets – the man not only eats better than 90% of all eaters, he adds new fans to competitive eating every day. He also does a good job behind the mike. Whoever gripes about Crazy Legs, is crazy themselves. Erik, you are a class act – you will be back at many finals tables.

    As a father I agree with Juris 100%. After watching the Video of that contest I can’t see why she wasn’t DQ after the first 3 minutes. At one point she rubs a burger with her head leaning back all over her face. She had no intention of eating it, it just tumbles in fragments to the floor. It’s sad the those guys had to lose to that. If she shows up which she shouldn’t “Erik The Red” should be there instead, I hope she is booed of stage.

    Here’s my question. There are 12 slots at the finals. Given seven qualifying winners and one bye, does that not leave four slots for wild cards? Also, since CL and Erik’s largest total was 50 each, why not just allow both of them to go. What’s the harm?

    Brian, you have the right to post whatever you desire. It’s your Web site and if others don’t like it they can get their own MySpace page or whatever.

    People know the purpose of your Web site going in—-reporting the news as you see it. Sure, there are things that are publicized that this person and that person might not like. But if you insisted on being selective and partial to every swinging **** out there you wouldn’t be able to post anything. No one in their right mind can expect that from you.

    By the way, I apppreciate you putting the Nashville video up. I am normally not one to ridicule someone in a public forum, but watching the “winning” performance made me want to reverse myself. “Disqualified” was written all over it, but to no avail.

    Not only do the fans of CE have the right to see the best in each eater, fellow competitors have the right to be treated fairly and equtably. When I watched that video I was sickened, saddened (as a fan of the sport), and appauled.

    I’ve watched only three videos of Juliet: the two pizza videos and the Krystal, and I’ve come up with a more appropriate moniker for her: “The Sampler.” She samples a large quantity of food, but doesn’t finish much of it.

    I am so sad and disappointed right now.

Obviously you set your priorities, and stuffing mushy hamburgers down your throat was higher on your priority list than being with your daughter. And then you have the nerve to talk about how you “think about the effect my actions have on others”. Dude, you didn’t seem to care about your actions in NYC this year at the Nathans after party when you were throwing glasses that broke and hit other people now did you? And then Dr. Bigtime there is that feeling of entitlement that you seem to have, that Juliet “took what I feel to be rightfully my title”. Did you happen to forget that Badlands also tied with you that day, and who’s to say he wouldn’t have beaten you in OT? Once again, Juliet didn’t take your day away from your daughter from you. You could have simply chosen to spend the day with her, instead of feeding your own ego by parading on stage, I’m guessing you lifted your shirt and flexed your muscles, like someone is impressed. How sad.

I just happened to link it in case they didn’t catch it on eatfeats. I recieved an email the other day comparing Juliet’s performance with the slow motion footage of JFK getting his brains blown out in Dallas . . At first i failed to see the correlation but when people started using terms like horrified, disgusted and sickening, i could somehow see blood and gutts being compared to debris pouring out of Juliet’s mouth . Well i think thats going abit overboard but i guess there is some validity to it. As far as the website, just because you think im your buddy doesnt give you a lifetime pass of immumity on bits and pieces. Some eaters have refrained from associatiing with me because i printed the truth about them . If their primary intent is to starve bits and pieces they have another thing coming to them. I will get my info no matter what. There is always someone out there that is willing to feed me some dirt. I wouldnt be doing this for six years if i thought i would be strapped for info. The other day i recieved some implicating photos of debris in regard to the nashville contest from an unnamed source. I was instructed not to post them. I complied but told this person that in the future either dont send me anything at all or next time i will post them . Another point i failed to mention. The next time someone tells me ” This is not for print” i suggest you keep the info to yourself or i will print it . I hate teasers !

    How long will Juliet Lee be permitted to make more of a mockery out of competitive eating than it is already? Is it all about just what you can get away with? Is there no end? Where and when will the IFOCE draw the line? Is there no justice? She’s a total disgrace and if she has the gall to show her face in Chatty the eaters should ignore her. I also hope she’s booed off the stage. She should be suspended for a minimum of 3 months or until she demonstrates that she doesn’t cheat. The Lovely my ass. There’s nothing lovely about her.

I did make the conscious decision to go to Memphis instead of speding time with my daughter, a decision I did not feel I would’ve had to make were it not for what happened in Nashville. I have busted my hump this year to get to where I am in CE, and I didn’t want to see that go to waste. Fortunately, baby Bigtime will be with me in Chattanooga next Sunday, and we will have a great day together, which will give her pictures, video, and memories that she will have forever. And you are right. Because of what my priorities are, and because of what has transpired, this will have a direct impact on how much Dr. Bigtime you see in the future. Which, it seems, will please you greatly.

    My sole intention in going to Memphis was to pay my respects to Elvis. What is the point of mentioning the person or persons that decided on not making the trip? It just opens another can of worms that doesnt need to be opened at this point. Water under the bridge as far as im concerned. I could not sleep the entire evening knowing i betrayed the king of rock and roll. I have never been there before and my goal was to eat 31 burgers as a commemorative tribute to a legendary entertainer.I ate 30 in a practice the other day so 31 was not out of reach. In response to the CD ,unless your songs get played on the radio or you are fortunate enough to have a record label , dont expect anything but chump change and peanuts. I expected the CE community to show some love and give back something in return but i got shit in return. To the ones that were kind enough to buy the CD, god will bless you in the future. As far as the PPV shows the response was an absolute disgrace as far as im concerned. Cant even come up with a stinkin 3 bucks? I mean really how cheap can you get. .With the exception of Sonya some of the cheap bastards that i gave free cd’s to , prob wait for double coupon day at the supermarket .

At least he has the balls to put an effort into writing songs and making a CD that perhaps others may like. I bought it and was surprised to find alot of the songs were pretty good (and catchy ). You may or may not agree with the content of the songs but I know personally that I could never write songs half as good. It does take some talent to put this stuff together and I know Badlands helped out with the compilation.

    I own two CE pickle trophies which is not much but its still better than nothing . Rehashing the past is pointless but at least i can say i beat the best the IFOCE had to offer in the Carnegie Deli pickle contest in 2002. Jarvis, Badlands, Hardy and Krazy Kevin. I barely beat Jarvis . It was so close to call that in any other arena they would have called for an eatoff but i was lucky enough to escape by the skin of my teeth and just managed to avoid shitting out all those pickles in the subway car. The names mentioned, competed in that contest realizing there was no cash prize incentive but they gave it everything they had . If any of you think that Kevin was a pushover , think again. Beside Ed Jarvis he is one of the greatest if not the greatest pickle eater in the entire world and when i went up against him one on one in the 2004 title rally, i did not beat him by much.

    well, I just finished reading the weeks worth of posts and comments that I have missed being away. I love the amount of comments back and forth as to who has the balls to do this and that. This is the internet, get real.

    Brian, no one (except 9 people) bought the cd because it is outdated music that only a handful of people still listen to, and those people probably aren’t interested in the subject content. No one paid for the PPV because it resembles the bits and pieces commentary that you post. You say that it doesn’t matter about spelling and grammer, but if you want people to read your blog, use some formatting for christ’s sake. And if you want people to watch the PPV’s, you have to have a little more personality in the video. And if you want to sell more albums, how about music that people listen to?

    US Male, I think a lot of people listened to it stream for free and decided that it wasn’t worth it, hence the lack of anyone backing you up. Also, having to sit through him performing B&W before contests pretty much turned everyone away.

Have you seen the photos of him sitting in a pickle bath in his apartment. Great photo, but vile subject matter. Blegh. Thanks for the imagery (insert sarcasm). Next time please keep that info in the locker room, or at least give a heads up. Scarred for life, I am.
