Why was Sonyas and everybody else’s total so low? She didnt get a trophy for that did she?
Its a good thing she went to Chatanooga or she would have lost every other qualifier with that total. Is she sick or what?

Luther – either stand up and compete, or shut the h*ll up!

I dont compete because I would gain weight too rapidly even though I would hold my own. I can eat 20 hot dogs but why do that and punish my body if I cant win. I know my limitations.

What kind of answer is that. I very recently began eating competitively and can only eat 15 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Yet I competed in a local competition this July 4th. I can also probably only put down about 22-25 krystals in 8 minutes. I am guaranteed no to win any qualifier, yet I am going up on Sunday to pre-qualify and hopefully participate in the qualifier on Monday, knowing i will lose. But I guess, now that I’ve read your brilliant take on competition and NOT doing something you love because you cant win, I guess I should just cancel. Is that your take on it Luther?

I don’t think Luther has a take. I think he just likes to stir the pot. His comments do seem to get lots of attention, even when most people say they are ignoring him. I think he gets off on that, somehow.

Rhonda – I guess that’s why he’s holding his own.

Has anyone here competed in Krystal? How many pickle chips are on the burgers? That seems to be slowing me down – but im putting dill chips on frozen white castles to practice. I know the boxes are there as well, but I can deal with those I think.

You know, if you put too much weight on Sonya’s total to predict how many she will eat in the finals you will likely be out in left field. She is normally not one to hold back at all, but given the heat/humidity index at about 107 degrees in Chatty that day, and looking at the distance between her and the second place finisher, you need to put things in perspective.

Krystals are certinly not her best food, much like hot dogs, be if she hits a good stride and has no trouble swallowing I think Sonya can do about 70+ with little problem.

I’m also curious as to how many Juliet will eat. I think Juliet can put down close to, or a bit more than 40, and I think she has a fair to good chance to be in the finals.

The pickle chips are left off because they present a choking hazard. Nothing ruins a fun afternoon like aspirating a pickle.

ANSWER: In the contest there are NO pickle slices or chips. Also you will find the buns are often cold, hard and dry. The meat many times is hard and tough to chew because it has been sitting out for sometime.

The burgers at Krystal’s and White Castle are warm and juicy. The burgers at the contest many times are not.

I was at the contest and she did not stop moving the whole time. She would dunk the Krystal’s in water and just suck it down. The best part of the whole thing was the introduction of the contstants. It was so hot I didn’t even want to drink the beer at the brew fest let alone eat any Krystals. Over all it was amazing to watch in person.
