    My friend who drove Savannah said he spoke with Bruce Pobanz afterwards. After feeling the rust from not competeing in Nathans hot dogs for seven years, He was happy to finish with 14.He also sent me a crowd estimate from a police officer he spoke with and they said close to four thousand packed the waterfront.

    Oj hit it right nose. There was no official scorer so besides davekos anyone else can make up their own totals to satisfy themself. Golden opportunity for the guy who finished dead last in a Myrtle beach contest in 2008

    There is no mention of Bruce Pobanz finishing with 14 hot dogs. Second place went to the girl Dee Martin with 8.5. It mentioned something about the youngest competitor finishing with 4 . That must have been World Wrestling champ himself

    Reading here hw BB is constantly trashing so many eaters. Reading his website the trashing continues much worse. Even now he trashes Pobanx. Calling him a “forgotten has been wrestler from the 70’s called Hangman aka Bruce Pobanz …he claimed to be 53 yrs old but looked more like 63. He now claims his age is 58 which would put him right around 68 if my original observations were correct.…its obvious this idiot is nothing but a sore loser”

    Speaking of “wild card”. Would it not be a hoot if Pobanz made it to Coney and BB had to sit home and watch.

    I say bring them both to Coney. Pobanz must still have a Ref shirt fro his wrestling days. He can be a judge. And BB must still have a dress in his closet. He can be a Bunnette.

    March 23 Seiken accuses Wild Bill of false numbers
    April 6 Seiken accuses Pobanz of false numbers
    April 13 Miami. Who will Seiken accuse this time.

    Seiken has a history of accusing anyone and everyone about something. He even has his own website to continue his temper tantrums. Can we expect anything else from Seiken?

    In a effort to not hurt anyone’s feelings MLE will no longer be announcing any losers totals! Only first place! One eater was so shamed recently by his recorded 11 HDB’s it was rumored that he lobbied IFOCE to stop humiliating losers like him by not announcing totals except for first place. Its just not nice to dwell on losers performances with accurate totals… someone’s feelings could get hurt… its not nice… just a form of bullying!
    STOP THE BULLYING!

    I missed Rick Petralia – sorry! It was an oversight, and not intentional. He came in 9th, just after Brian and I, finishing his nachos, wings, hot dogs, and one slice of pizza. Everybody else moves down one:

    1.) Juliet Lee – finished all food items in approximately six minutes. (first title in an open contest)
    2.) Badlands Bookers – finished all food items in eight minutes, contest was stopped at this point. (first contest since March 2007)

    Just flew back from Myrtle Beach and overall it was a great trip. We got tossed out of an all you can eat Chinese buffet the night before and was comped a couple free slabs of ribs after the contest at Tony Roma’s.

    As to the results posted by Wild Bill. All I’ll say is those are not the official results. Technically there are no official results. As BB writes on his website the contest was stopped after Juliet Lee won. Congrats again to her. Some have said she won at 6 minutes. The paper says it was 7 minutes and 13 seconds. Some in the audience heard 8 minutes. Whatever it was, Juliet Lee was the one and only winner.

    While some eaters stopped eating, others kept on. So Ryan then restarted the contest to see who would get second place and Badlands was declared in second with Arturo in third. Some went back to eating while others just stood around and chatted with the fans. I was told I came in 7th place and I’m sticking by that.

    Hangman i am not a favorite son on this site and with that said i wont bellyache about trivial bullshit. I am not Mr popularity 2008 anymore so i am sure you will get everyone (which is like 3 or 4 haters making it seem like 20) on this site to agree with you and cover your back, Enjoy. . All i can say is that you are one two faced individual. You shook my hand at Myrtle Beach then turn around and talk shit behind my back and make up fake totals to save face over a last place finish. If you ate 14 hdb, then more power to you bro. I was not there so therefore i cannot pass judgement That means you hold the current wild card spot if i am not mistaken. On a side note strong possibility i will be in Vegas on April 20 as a spectator to root on an up and coming female eater and meet El Toro for the first time

    I’m one of those unranked ranked eaters. I belong to no group. Never competed for any group. Except the boys and I get together over a few brews here in college and try some challenges we read about here.

    My question is, reading how Brian Seiken says Bruce Pobanz is so bad, then why did the MLE and the Sheas invite Bruce to represent them on TV and they do not invite Brian? That was Bruce Pobanz on Good Morning Savannah was it not?

    If I read it correctly, the Sheas have been doing this for about 20 years. They do it to make money. And by the sound of it, they make a good living at it.

    Since they invited Pobanz to be on TV for them, IMHO Pobanz must be good.

    @2:25 There must be alot of fear of Bruce Pobanz here by one or more persons. Bring up parts of old posts from here in 2008. Then 2:25 shares a link to some comments made by people hiding behind their keyboard back in 2004.

    Brian Seiken says on his sight Pobanz is a washed up has been wrestler he used to enjoy watching back in the 70’s.

    So some say Pobanz was a wrestler and some say he was not. At least Seiken had the b*lls to post with his name and picture.

    As to Pobanz, what I saw was him on Good Morning Savannah talking about the Nathans contest. What I saw was a professional attitude on tv. I saw nothing wrong with what he did. As someone said, Pobanz must be good for the Sheas invited him on tv to represent MLE and Nathans.

    Did he eat 5, 10, 15 or 20? How many he ate or did not eat, I do not care. But maybe Seiken does care. Could it be a retired unranked eater really could and did eat more than the ranked Brian Seiken? The Pi Guy was in the top 50 but this year, no more. Is Seiken afraid that as he gets older, his time of being in the top 50 may be slipping away.

    I don’t know and I don’t care. The way people talk about Brian Seiken today, I’m sure one can go back to blogs and websites and see posts that say not so nice things about him from 2008, 2004 and maybe even back as far as 1997?

    I never met Pobanz but would like to. From what I saw on tv, he seems to be an alright guy. No matter what any number of writers and bloggers who hide behind keyboards say.

You just happened to be lucky that the official stat man wasnt there to verify it like he did correctly in myrtle beach 5 yrs ago . Were there photos of your plates?     Pablo Martinez today says Pi Guy ate 10 and the two roller derby ate a combined 5. Yet the Article in the newspaper posted here the girls say they ate 6 and a half combined. One ate four and one ate 2 and a half.

    Can we trust the newspaper story that was there or Pablo who posted his count days later. I say I trust Pablo as much as I trust BB.

    And since the girls together claim 6 and a half at the contest, that means I trust Pablos count of Pi Guy even less.

    The way I see it Pretty Buy and Dee ate the most and the winners were nathans and the city of Savannah. No one else won any money did they? How much did BB win when he ate 11 or 13 or how ever many he claims?

    4:11 Seiken was a virtual unknown from 97 – 2001 . He was a quiet man without a website.. He became known in 2002 when he won pickle title. His website made debut in Sept 2003

    Hangman was in wresyling. Even Seiken admits he used to watch him in NYC. Many feel wrestling is predetermined. Just like Nathans qualifiers are mostly predetermined. The best eaters are picked and flown in compete against low stomach capacity locals

    There were posts here copied from 2008, 2004 being used to try and tear down Hangman. We know wrestlers are actors. Here is a April 2013 post from the Miami Herald taking about class and respect with old, “washed up” wrestlers. Wrestlers that were around in the 50’s, 60’s and Hangmans time of the 70;s

    6:03, as an avid sports fan (hockey, football, baseball, and CE {using the “sport” term loosely with CE}), I know of no one in any other sport who tears down fellow participants, and consequently, the sport itself, to even half the degree that Seiken does. If he had any magnitude of star power at all, he’d be banned from CE altogether. But in reality, he’s a mini-minnow wallowing in each decent competitive eater’s most recent flush of the toilet bowl. No one of any importance really “hears” him.

    He does provide an example—-of what NOT to do and how NOT to treat others. For those wishing to change their lives for the better, just look at Seiken and do the opposite. Such people will feel much better about themselves by doing so. It is very unfortunate that Seiken cannot see this. That’s either because he’s just so self-centered and bullheaded, or he’s simply a sociopath without the ability to change.

    It is my sincere hope that he emerges from the grip of whatever funk he’s in, but habit dies hard and it takes a big man to change.

    MLE has done the impossible!!! Never thought they would be able to top CONTI in the fraud and deception department but they apparently have employed such a morally inept person recently in Bruce Pobanz at a Nathans Hot Dog eating event. By all accounts Pobanz was not a wrestler of any kind, he was just a hanger on at best, who fantasized about actually being one. Is anything he claims true? How about the emotional story he tells and referenced by anonymous poster Rhonda Evans previously on this thread about a dying child which by all accounts is made up, sickening and a patently self serving lie. He is the kind of con man like Crazy Legs Conti who is able with a straight face say and claim anything with out a ounce of shame to further himself. Who cares that he lies about being a wrestler, yes its weird (he claims to have slammed Andre the Giant once) but so what pro wrestling is fake, but the dying child scenario he tells in a testimony to god is demented and evil. Please, before anyone supports or believes this mans fantasies do a little research.

    906 Rhonda Evans seems to have fell for the bullcrap. But then again eatfeats is her life M-F 9-5pm. and she praises anyone that comes off as a good soul. Anyone that has ever met a former pro wrestler know that the majoirty of them still keep themselves in pretty good shape including rock hard abs while still maintain that rough edge in their persona. Pobanz posesses none of those.. I can vouch for that because i met him in person. He does not come across as someone that mixed it up with Chief Jay Strongbow, Ivan Koloff, Valiant Bros, Bulldog Brower and the list goes on. I think Pobanz goal from the get go was to sabotage this blog for a few weeks under assumed names and get as much publicity or attention he could muster in that time span. If he wants to live in a fantasy the same way underdog lady thinks she is actually underdog then by all means let him do so. However there are some smart people in the sport of comp eating that smell a faker a mile away. Has this Bruce Pobanz ever made appearanceds at WWF wrestiling conventions ?     Funny how looney toon Evans changes her perception of BB as many times as she changes her underwear or as many times as she says shes done with posting on eatfeats. Wasnt it no more than a few months ago that you were praising Seiken edititorial , videos, interviews. .     When Rich Shea is hosting a Nathans qualifier , the majority of the time he is the least bit interested in who came in 2nd 3rd or 4th . It was self evident in past qualifiers if you were there to witness. He normally uses the excuse that he has a plane to catch or has some other business to attend to. In all fairness to Rich i can appreciate that . No money involved its basically irrelevant. Still some would like to know their personal totals just so they can go back and tell friends and family about the thrill they had competing in a Nathans qualifier. If Bruce Pobanz actually did eat 14 he would have immediatlly brought it to Rich attention but instead announced it right here on eatfeats so that some will believe he’s a decent eater.

    I have not posted anything here or looked at this site in some time. But hearing some of the love posted about me, I decided to return and post this one time, a rebuttal. The other side of the story.

    To anonymous from April 8 2:25PM, You shared some links from 2004 that deal with lies on the Internet about me. I’m sure, if you look carefully enough, you can find and share links about posts saying I’m a sexual predator, a child molester and even a murderer.

    Celebrities sometimes have stalkers and sometimes those stalkers do crazy things. Even one stalker of Jodi Foster tried to shoot and kill then President Reagan.

    I had and still have stalkers. One went crazy and when posting false stories on the Internet did not work. They stepped out in front of their anonymous keyboard and tried to get at me with violence. They were subsequently arrested and sentenced to 18 months in prison.

    This stalker had friends and they wanted to see me in jail and not their friend. So one of them went all the way to filing a police report and accusing me of murder. For their proof, they even submitted to the Police a copy of a signed death certificate. The Police contacted me and a hearing was set, before a Judge.

    The hearing was to determine if I was to be arrested and tried for murder. When both parties stood before the Judge for the first time, the other side had a lawyer who presented a very good case. Then when I was able to speak, all I had to do was ask his Honor if he knew the person I’m alleged to have killed was sitting in the witness box next to him. That person admitted that I had killed them and they even showed the Judge a copy of their signed death certificate. Before the Judge threw the case out of court he strongly suggested to their attorney that his clients seek medical (mental health) care.

    Shortly after the stalker I sent to jail was released from prison, I got a phone call from them saying “I’m Back”. Haters will continue to hate.

    As to anonymous posting the links. Have any of you seen the car insurance commercial, I think it was State farm, where the “blond” female said everything on the Internet is true? How many of you are also dating a French Model you met on the Internet?

    As to the hot dog eating contest. I ate 15 hot dogs and 14 buns. So say I ate 14.5 or 14, it does not matter. 14 is my personal best.

    When George Shea was going down the row, announcing the totals, I decided to cover up my three plates with my cowboy hat. Pretty Boy had 20 something and I knew he had beat me. Second or third place had nothing. No money. No prize. Nothing.

    As I listened to totals of locals who ate 4 and 5 hot dogs, I felt it was the gentlemanly thing to do to let these locals have their moment of glory. Their family, friends and neighbors were cheering them on as they we all winners. And in my mind, they were all winners. I’m from Brunswick. 70 miles South of Savannah. This was their moment to shine. This was the day of Savannah to be proud of their local eaters up on stage. Just like the day before, when I was on Good Morning Savannah with one of the local eaters. I went slow and ate one hot dog. She struggled and barely consumed half of a dog. I could of declared myself the winner. I could of rubbed it in her face that I’m better than you. Instead I took the high road, showed her respect, and raised her hand. The female TV reporter even said I declared the Lady the winner.

    I showed the same respect at the contest, as I showed the World on that TV show the morning prior. I allowed the locals to be the winners on stage. Their family and friends; their local community all celebrated their victory being up their on stage. They may have only ate 2, 3 or 4 hot dogs; but in the eyes of their family and friends, they were all winners. And the citizens of Savannah and the community as a whole were proud of their local competitors and that shed a good positive light on Nathan’s hot dogs and I’m sure the sponsor was happy when the community was happy.

    This is my one and only reply about the contest here. I stand behind my count of 14. I hear that makes me second place. Second place is nice but second place gets NOTHING. No trophy, no money and no trip to Coney. As to wild card, I’m sure there are professional eaters that will eat more than me. They will win any wild card spot, not me.

    Congratulations to Pretty Boy Pete Davekos and Mrs Pi Guy Dee Martin. They both did well and took home the trophy. Best wishes to them both at Coney.

    Instead of lauding your own accomplishments, you tout those of others; instead of looking for character flaws of others, you admit your own; rather than basking in your own glory, you direct attention to those of lesser talents; and instead of retaliating against those who want to harm your reputation, you refrain from directing negativity toward them.

    It’s no wonder MLE powers that be would want to use you to help promote their sport and brand. They like your message, and I respect the messenger.

    Huge Thanks to The Hangman. He has fully disclosed and taken the time to do so for the sake of others. He makes me want to keep reading here and puts the haters comments in the proper dark where they should stay. In writing what he has, he shows the world at large and its complexities along with upstanding behavior. The internet is both a wonder and a land of lies and half truths etc. It used to be don’t believe everything you read( and only half of what you see) when applied to newspapers. Now we have videos which can also “lie” because of camera angles. Bunch of nonsense. Big picture is Hangman has if not all, certainly “lots”. An interesting history, humor, compassion, truth, proper showmanship. MLE chose perfectly.

    I tried googling stuff on Bruce Pobanz especially on youtube but all i can come up with is a slide show of him pictured with other famous wrestlers or some photos where he might have asked if he could get in the ring with some of them to make it look legit. Any testimonials from the legend himself come from the legend himself and they are as long and winding as the posts we have been subjected to right here, I was able to find a link that you might find very interesting .     “Hangman” Bruce Pobanz is a favorite of many. At best, he was an obscure indy wrestler trained by “Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant, who, for whatever reason, put him in the Boogie Wrestling Camp Hall of Fame (which Pobanz always refers to as the “BWC Hall of Fame” without explaining what it stands for). He also may have been an extra in a couple movies.I must stress, that’s the best case scenario, but he’s made numerous claims about being a huge star who held the NWA World Heavyweight Title on many occasions and slammed Andre The Giant. He’s been a regular at the Cauliflower Alley Club convention for years, where he’s tolerated for whatever reason. His excuse when called out on his claims was that hey, if YOU wrestled for so many years and so many wonderful things happened but that if “[your] skull was broken 20 or 30 times” and suffered strokes, would YOU be able to provide any proof? (Yes, really). The best surviving piece of Pobanz history with his website gone and not on The Wayback Machine is this piece that he wrote, which was on his old site and lives on as part of various Christian-themed websites. To save space, I’m not pasting any of it here, but I will beg you to read it, because it’s simultanously hilarious and infuriating at times, especially when he talks about the time he visited a young, dying fan who he gave a souveneir Hangman’s noose too (was he trying to push the kid towards euthanasia?). Those who have encountered him are split on whether or not he’s trying to pull a con or believes what he’s saying.subjected to right here.

    12:21 pm, The AP copy and paste has no date. There are lots of screws loose on here, I certainly can agree with that, and people write about foolish things, but this seems to be apples and oranges, a Bruce P. comparison story to a Miki Sudo story. The drooling middle age man is perhaps BS and others as an aside but a timeline here is important. If I understand correctly, Miki Sudo quite foolishly, well way way more than that, reported a bomb onboard an already in flight plane on Sept. 11.2010 of all dates to choose, Sept. 11th yet. Why? Her likely no longer boyfriend was aboard. As things unfolded, she pleaded guilty in a deal but when? Cases take a long time. She must have been free on recognizance until her case came to court or she put up bail or whatever. That really doesn’t matter anymore, that is done. So was she sentenced on May 30th, 2012 and did she get probation and home confinement? And if she did, not saying, but if she did, said confinement would have been up on March 30th. 04/20/2013 is the Las Vegas Nathan’s qualifier, and I cannot imagine that competitive eating is a probation violation. Again, all speculation. Think I will just go with Rhonda on all. I do not care who he or she is, she calls people on things and praises as well. You are correct however, it would seem that some misdeeds could be considered worse than others, but again, we are all relying upon information which could or could not be correct. It certainly seems a fact that the Miki Sudo “incident” is well documented and a very serious mistake. But it also seems that she went through the process and now has that as part of her life history but no reason she needs to stop living and certainly she seems to be capable of eating “lots”. If drooling middle aged men are chasing her to Las Vegas, they could be more dangerous than the FBI who tracked her down in 2010. Good Luck Miki.

    I too hope Mike Sudo could eat at Nathan’s. However my biggest concern is if she would be allowed to eat at Nathan’s. I know she paid for her crime, but public perception is everything, and Nathan’s is like a magnifying glass when it comes to the press. I’m really not sure if MLE wants to take the time out to deal with with stories regarding Sudo’s bomb threat on 9/11 which will come up through any simple Google search by a reporter doing a profile of her. The MLE and Nathan’s want any and all coverage of the contest to positive, and I’m not sure Sudo’s past fits that story line or if the MLE wants to go the trouble of dealing with it. Good luck Miki. I guess we’ll see at Vegas.

Miki could be the perfect example of someone who made a serious mistake and has fully admitted it, taken proper steps all along the way and is completely ready to and has gotten on with her life in positive ways. Look, doing local eating challenges is one thing, but the intense media coverage of Nathan’s is a whole different ball game. Believe, me CNN and other networks have footage in the can of a plane on the tarmac being evacuated, can she handle everytime her image comes there will be a side by side image of her and that plane? How will MLE handle the question, “This woman called a bomb threat to an aircraft on 9/11, and you guys actually paid for a plane a ticket to New York City?” These are things that Miki needs to consider. I’m not trying to be mean to Miki, I’m just trying to prepare her for the potential likelihood that her past will come up and it migh not be pretty. The New York Post is not the Vegas Pennysaver.
