Fox40 reports that Hamdy Rounin took his own life after murdering his two daughters in West Sacramento. He reportedly won a hot wing eating contest two weeks earlier.

Randy Santel announces that he finished the 28 inch pizza challenge at Carmine's in Kerrville, TX and won $150. The restaurant opened solely for him to do the challenge. He did not win the announced $500 prize because Juan Neave claimed it on December 30.

Chicago.CBSLocal.com has an interview with Joey Chestnut about competing in The Amazing Race with Tim "Eater X" Janus as Team Chomp. He says he hopes to have an undefeated 2018 in competitive eating. The season will premier tomorrow on CBS.

Earlier today, Takeru Kobayashi faced off against a lion in an eating contest on a New Year's Day special for Japanese TV called Battle of Beauty and Beast. In 2003, Kobayashi competed against a bear in a hot dog eating contest on Fox's Man vs. Beast program. update Shrugu702 has a video clip of the program.
