Crazy Legs Conti wins Saratoga qualifier
Capital News 9 has an article and video of this afternoon’s Nathan’s qualifier at Saratoga, NY. Crazy Legs Conti won the contest with 21.5 HDB. Jeff Bouyea was second with 10 HDB. Did any reader of this website besides Mike Landrich attempt to register for this contest and not get accepted?
update The Saratogian also has an article about the contest. Tim “Eater X” Janus attended and competed in the neat eating competition, but did not enter the qualifier.

Congrats on the early start for ’08 Legs. Good thing that Legs showed up because, no disrespect to Mr Bouyea, but it would have been sad if someone qualified for the ’08 finals with 10 HDB’s.

How come the IFOCE didn’t get anyone else to compete in this one. I mean 21 1/2 dogs is a solid total, but it seems like this was a gift entry into the 2008 Nathan’s finals with no other competition to push CL.

A related question would be, why the IFOCE had a Nathan’s qualifier 10 and a half months before the finals at all. I can’t figure it out.

My brother registered for this one the day it was posted and i followed up a few days later. Saratoga’s our hometown but we never heard back from the IFOCE. The paper says only 8 people competed. There could have been two more and we both would have been closer to CL than 10

I thought I was getting paranoid, thinking it was just me that didn’t get in. I think what bothers me most is not even getting a “sorry, you were not selected…….” e-mail. They didn’t even have that decency. Hearing only 8 people competed just adds to the theory that they didn’t want any real competition. Perhaps if I hadn’t doen the qualifier in Vegas last May and was unknown to IFOCE, I could’ve surprised them. You’d think they’d want to put on a real show instead of this half-assed spectacle.
