Adam Richman reminded me of the host of “Best Places to Find Cash and Treasures”, the lovely Kristen Gum. All the guy does is spew “wow” “amazing” and other such superlatives. All the while, I’m looking at some of these monstrosities he’s eating thinking “yuck” “how revolting” and other similar thoughts.
Adam throws in a jab at our world….”I’m no competitive eater, just a guy who loves food”, then he proceeds to take any timed challenge than comes around. Not a competitive eater, indeed! The main focus of the second half of each show is strictly on him beating timed challenges, and the food becomes secondary. It always ended the same way, with him “winning” and the crowd going wild.
All in all, I’m not impressed. Disgusting looking conglomerations of mixed food items (shoot me, Pittsburgh, cole slaw and french fries are side dishes, not condiments) and eating hot stuff that is not designed for taste, just heat, makes this a show about a man speeding up a heart attack, not a show about a man enjoying good food. He is not a competitive eater, just a guy that eats as much greasy, hot, gross-looking and cholesterol laden food as quickly and often as possible.
Competitive eaters, in general, take good care of their bodies when not competing. Adam Richman is on a mission to destroy his body. The crowd at my house did not go wild – Adam, every time you “win”, you lose. I feel bad for your parents, watching you speed up death on national TV. Here’s his obituary title….”Man VS Food: Man Wins Battles, Loses War”.

And pineapple’s not a topping for Pizza…. but it tastes damn good.

I agree critic, the host sucks….wow, amazing, blah, blah….. but don’t knock the sandwich until you’ve tried it.

Hot for the sake of being hot…. I’m not a big fan of either. But some folks like it.
