Johnnie Excel sets two eating challenge records

The facebook for Johnnie Excel announces that he set two challenge records this weekend. He finished the Iron Man challenge omelet at the Broken Yolk in 13 minutes and ate 60 plates of sushi at Sushilicious.

Stephanie Torres was not allowed to attempt to break the women’s record since only one record attempt per day is allowed at Sushilicious. She will attempt the record on Wednesday and finished a 5 pound burrito in 14 minutes at La Casa Garcia in Anaheim as a replacement challenge.

I think Ben Holds the record at the Broken yolk with 11mins… the thing about the iron man challenge is you can get 5lbs of food or 7lbs of food, depends on the day or cook…

congrats Steph on the king ranch burrito, I still have you beat by a few minutes, it’s a decent burrito, they have good salsa! I plan on going back their soon to hit single minute digits.

Congratulations Johnnie on making it so less people can get free sushi. You are truly all that is man.

Sushilicious is another restaurant with poor self-image skills. Apparently they gave away my day after we had previously agreed to a new appointment last Friday. I hope Stephanie really takes them to the cleaners.

The Broken Yolk had the current record at a bit over 14 minutes. This was the Gaslamp location, maybe they keep the records separate for the 4 different locations? I don’t want to steal Ben’s thunder if he really did it in 11 minutes. I’m just going off what the restaurant told me on Saturday.

I would like to go back and do a sub 11 minute time though, this was my first ever eating challenge. I think I could have shaved a couple minutes off if I wasn’t distracted with tourists wanting to take photos while I was eating, and this other guy starting the challenge while I was in the middle of mine.

The guys at Sushilicious were pretty encouraging though, after I ate the required 15 types of sushi rolls, the guy let me eat whatever I wanted. I just started pulling food off the kaiten and the chef let me do a ton of salmon and unagi nigiri, my favorites. Also anonymous, competitive eating challenges are not about free sushi. Sorry dude, I’m not going to limit myself just so more people can get a free turn at sushi. I did think about doing 39 plates, then 40, then 41 etc. at different visits but that’s just taking advantage of the promotion.

Always do your best guys, I hope someone beats my sushi record soon too. I want a reason to try that one again. Though the idea of coming short at around $200 of sushi is kind of scary lol. Me and Stephanie Torres are coming back Wednesday night to set the women’s record.

Yes, I totally understand. Then how would people know how awesome you are? Seriously though. . .You might want to consider checking your ego. . .nothing good comes of only thinking about yourself (in eating stuff and just life in general).

Thanks Damon, I did the challenge with Aaron Ybarra (who completed it as well). We were talking during the burrito, We couldve gone faster, Im sure, but we were having great conversations .. about food and people haha. go figure =]

The great thing about that place is they take time to make a tasty burrito for you, and yes, the salsa and chips are really good. I actually had two bowls of salsa, one with the burrito and one afterwards lol. I usually make salsa every other day, with extra kick =]

that burrito was the very first challenge I ever did, I remember I was scared to even drink water thinking it would fill me up more. Still, I hate going to challenges that make you pay regardless of finishing or not.

Best of luck on the sushi challenge.
