2013 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest category

The Brooklyn Daily reports that the original Coney Island Nathan's Famous will not reopen until Spring 2013 after sustaining significant damage from Hurricane Sandy and that the July 4, 2013 hot dog eating contest is still on.
The New York Times has an article about post-Sandy Coney Island with quotes from singer-songwriter Amos Wengler who is famous for his performances at the Nathan's finals.

The facebook for Nathan's Famous announces that its original location on Coney Island, site of the annual hot dog eating contest on July 4, suffered severe water damage during Hurricane Sandy and the reopening date is unknown. Nathan's is donating 50,000 hot dogs to the New York City Food Bank.

Fortunately rumors that Coney Island Hospital was on fire turned out to be untrue.
