2009 Pittsburgh Wing Madness (formerly WCS)
The website for 1250 ESPN in Pittsburgh has information about their 2009 wing eating contest, which is now called “Wing Madness” (Previous contests were called the “Wing Championship Series”) The first qualifier will take place at Strikers Sports Bar in Zelienople, PA on Tuesday, March 10 and the top two finishers will advance to the finals on April 17. The grand prize is a 3 night stay at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and a $1,000 resort gift card.
Showboat crawfish field
The blog for Atlantic City Weekly has information about the competitors in next Tuesday’s Showboat Mardi Gras Casino World Crawfish Eating Championship:
Contest will feature eater Tim “Eater X†Janus, the tamale and burrito eating champion of the world and the sweet corn champion Crazy Legs Conti. Also competing are the top two female competitive eaters Juliet Lee and Sonya “The Black Widow†Thomas. Philly-area fan favorites Eric “Steakbellie†Livingston and Micah “Wing Kong†Collins will also compete.

Crawfish & corned beef purses
Purses for the crawfish ($2,500) and corned beef ($10,000) contests are now available. Registration for the corned beef contest is now closed after opening earlier today. Hall Hunt is apparently one of the corned beef entrants.

San Benardino MLE cops vs. firefighters contest
The SBSun has an article about upcoming firefighters’ events:
In a quest to bring family fun to the city, Rubio said firefighters are also planning two other events for the spring and summer months.
One will be a monster truck and dirt bike race. The other plan is to sponsor a Major League Eating challenge at Cal State San Bernardino.
The eating extravaganza will apparently include a cop versus firefighter donut eating contest as well as burrito and hot dog eating competitions.
5,000+ registered for Krispy Kreme Challenge
The North Carolina State student newspaper reports that 5,038 entrants have registered for tomorrow’s Krispy Kreme Challenge, an increase of about 2,000 from last year’s field size. The contest entails running 2 miles from the NC State bell tower to a Krispy Kreme, consuming a dozen donuts at that location, and then returning to the race start. Proceeds from the race will go to the NC Children’s Hospital and ESPN will be covering the event. Registration is now closed since the cap has been reached. Last year’s winner, Phillip Curley (time 31:20), was a student at rival UNC.

Phoenix Battle of the Bone returns in February
The 2009 edition of Battle of the Bone, the Phoenix area wing eating contest sponsored by Native New Yorker and THE FAN AM 1060, is expected to begin this month. The initial qualifier is tenatively scheduled to take place on February 25.
Registration for Atlantic City crawfish tomorrow
IFOCE.com announces that registration for the crawfish eating contest that will be held at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City on February 24 will open tomorrow at 2pm eastern.
The contest has yet to be listed on the IFOCE contests list or the casino’s events page.
updateCrawfish notices the contest information has now been posted. The contest will start at 2pm and prizes have yet to be determined.

Atlantic City wing contest Feb 7 – first prize is flat screen TV
A wing eating contest will be held at the Atlantic City boat show on February 7. The first prize will be a flat screen TV. Call The Shark 103.7 FM to register.
IFOCE Feb-April 2009 schedule announced

- March 16, New York City, NY, Stroehmann’s Rye and Corned Beef Sandwich
- April 11, Santa Clara, CA, Funnel Cake Eating Championship
Other April contest sites are Myrtle Beach, SC (probably Broadway at the Beach), Stockton, CA (Asparagus Fest), West Palm Beach, FL (Sweet Corn Festival) and New Orleans (probably the Acme Oyster House)

MLE mac & cheese contest at San Jose Stealth Feb 21
A blog entry on the Calgary Herald’s website says that the San Jose Stealth of the National Lacrosse League will have Joey Chestnut compete in a macaroni & cheese eating contest. The Stealth’s schedule page has details about that event which will take place on February 21:

The Stealth’s opponent on February 21 will be the Colorado Mammoth, which hosted the KBPI Wing Bowl yesterday. If anyone has results from that contest, please list them in the comments.
