Val Bromann, back in the United States after a round the world trip lasting over a year, has a blog entry about a friend's attempt at the Bacon Bomb challenge at Paddy Long's in Chicago.
Timothy O'Tooles in Chicago is holding a one day eating challenge in honor of former Bears coach Mike Ditka's 73rd birthday today. Customers who finish "Da Super Fan Challenge" consisting of a half slab of ribs, 10 wings, a Polish sausage sandwich, an Italian beef sandwich, two pounds of French fries and a 23 ounce Miller Lite will receive a Bears souvenir glass.
West Park Station in Cleveland is holding oyster eating contests on September 28 and 29 awarding a trip to Chicago on October 13 for the National Oyster Eating Contest. (I have not been able to find anything else about the October 13 contest.)

Jamie was in the Chicago area to compete in a taquito eating contest and qualify for Bacci's pizza eating contest, which will award $2500 ($1500 to the winner) on Saturday. update RedEye Chicago reports that Jamie will attempt to eat the entire menu of BadHappy tomorrow.
