BillyPenn.com has an interview with Wing Bowl 23 Wingette Ginelle Ophelia who says that the exposure makes participating worthwhile despite the lack of pay and security guards.

Wing Bowl 23 odds released

The official odds for Wing Bowl 23 have been released. The “Unknown Eater” is not listed as a local despite being billed as a Philly area resident during his qualification stunt. Some of the favorites:

update Philly.com has an article about Wing Bowl preparations making the claim that the “Unknown Eater” has defeated Molly Schuyler. Her only documented loss was to Jamie McDonald in a 2013 pumpkin pie contest.

Bleed Philly has a response to Philadelphia Magazine's column examining if the Wing Bowl should be terminated. Barstool Philly has a podcast with "Skin & Bones" about competing in the Wing Bowl.
Philadelphia Magazine's column titled "Wing Bowl: Is It Time to End It?" is now available online. Richard Rys makes a comparison with Ray Rice assaulting his fiancee with the treatment of women at the Wing Bowl. He does not mention Molly Schuyler by name but describes the defending champion as "very intimidating".
Joe Menchetti took first place in tonight's Wing Off at the Sugar House Casino in Philadelphia to win a spot in Wing Bowl 23 and $500. The "Mystical Magi" thinks the contest was rigged.
"Nacho Extreme", a competitor in several eating contests on the A & E reality series Wahlburgerers, qualified for Wing Bowl 23 today by completing a cheesesteak sandwich eating stunt. The big Wing Bowl news appears to be that WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley is participate in Wing Bowl 23. Foley competed in the past two fruitcake eating contests in Santa Claus, IN and was penalized for cheating from both competitions. A limited number of Wing Bowl tickets will go on sale today at 9 AM.
Spike Eskin of WIP reports that there will be a major Wing Bowl announcement tomorrow, and the news will be bigger than the return of Joey Chestnut or Takeru Kobayashi to the event.
