New Poll: # of Belly Buster burger finishers
The new poll asks how many eaters in the world do you believe are capable of finishing Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub’s 15 pound Belly Buster burger (10.5 pounds of meat) in under 3 hours without assistance. No one has yet to complete that sandwich singlehandedly.

Article on 123 pound burger
The Clearfield Progress has an article about the unveiling of Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub’s 123 pound burger. The burger took 6-8 hours to cook and a heat shield had to be installed on the oven. The burger meat will be used in chili and other non-burger items.
The article also mentions the UEPa meeting, the German television crew and Ian Hickman breaking the 2 lb burger record. The previous record of 15 minutes was set by Daryl Teats of Woodland, PA in 1993. Dave Schoffner is quoted.
A shorter version of the article was produced by the Associated Press which has been picked up by dozens of outlets. (From flash383)

New world record burger on Denny’s home page

Claim Kate Stelnick finished 15 lb burger on ebay
There is a page on ebay claiming that Kate Stelnick finished the 15 pound “Belly Buster” burger in addition to completing the 11 pound 96er. I have no idea why this page was placed on ebay since there is no associated merchandise for auction.
Belly Buster eaters needed for UEPa meeting & German TV
Megamunch reports that German TV will be filming during the UEPA meeting at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub on Saturday, and they would like to record a two person attempt on the 15 pounder Belly Buster burger .
2 pound burger contest at Denny’s Saturday
Megamunch reports that Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub will hold a 2 pound burger eating contest after the new world’s largest burger is unveiled on Saturday. The burger is free to competitors. (This is probably the only way to receive a 2lb burger without paying for it as people who finish it in an hour only get a 50% discount.)
The blog entry lists the 2 lb record at 36 minutes, but I believe that is Lori Weiss’ record for the 3 lb. burger. Megamunch’s picture of the 2 lb finishers plaque reports that Andy Pentz ate the 2lb burger in 23 minutes on New Year Eve 2005.
Forum thread with Kate Stelnick eyewitness
The most convincing evidence that Kate Stelnick did finish the 96er burger in under three hours without assistance is probably found in this fark forum thread in which RSquared18 posts several times. Rsquared18 was a member of Kate’s travel part to Denny’s and the photographer of her eating the giant burger. Rsquared18 says that Kate needed 2:53 to finish the burger, one minute shorter than the official time.

New Poll: Actual number of 96er finishers
In a recent blog entry, Wing Tut is skeptical about the claims that Kate Stelnick and Lori Weiss are the only people to finish Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub’s 11 pound 96er burger in under three hours. Neither woman has participated in any public eating contests or challenges outside Denny’s. The new poll asks how many people you think have actually finished the 96er in under three hours.
The case for Lori Weiss
In a recent blog entry, Wing Tut expresses skepticism about the claims that Kate Stelnick and Lori Weiss are the only people to complete Denny’s 96er burger in under three hours. There is a good deal of evidence to support Denny’s claims that Lori Weiss did accomplish what the restaurant claims. Lori Weiss ate the three pound burger (5+ pounds with toppings) in 36 minutes at a contest recorded for the Food Network in 2002, setting a record (which I believe still stands based on megamunch’s picture of the recent finishers of that burger) The archived versions of Denny’s websites have two articles about that contest:
Lancaster New Era
Clearfield Progress
I am not sure if this contest was ever televised by the Food Network since I have not been able to find any information about the show it was on. If it was, Lori’s appearance might have been cut.
Lori’s conquest of the 96er last July was documented in a blog entry at
http://baxojayz.blogspot.com/2005/07/4th-of-july-weekend-dennys-beer-barrel.html (Surprisingly, the blogger claims that the record Lori was aiming to break was under 2 hours, when the official mark by Kate Stelnick is 2:54. I am not sure if there is a lower unpublicized record or if he just got confused.)
If Lori Weiss’ feats are hoaxes, they are extremely well constructed ones.
UEPa Denny’s trip report meeting
Megamunch has a trip report and gallery from yesterday’s meeting of the United Eaters of Pennsylvania at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, PA. Ian “The Invader” Hickman, Pete “Broken Wing†Maurizio, Derek “Wing Tut†Payne joined Dave “Megamunch” Shoffner in attempting Denny’s giant burger. Megamunch attempted the 3 pound burger, while the others tried the 6 pound 96er. Ian Hickman ate the most, finishing over 2/3 of his megaburger, but the 96er finishers and 3 lb burger finsher plaques will not need to be updated following their visit. Congratulations to the UEPa for some great efforts.

Lori Weiss finishes 15 pound Belly Buster?
In this blog entry, Baxojayz says he witnessed Lori Weiss complete Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub’s 15 pound Belly Buster burger in about two hours. Last year, he said she finished the 11 pound 96er. I have sent a comment to Baxojayz, but it has yet to be approved or answered.
New big burger at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub?
Denny’s Beer Barrel bike rally report
Reports from last weekend’s bike rally to Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, PA, along with some nice pictures of the PA mountains can be found in this forum thread. I don’t think any biker made a serious attempt at one of Denny’s larger burgers, but at least one group ordered a 96er which they split.
Sturgis, Daytona, Clearfield
According to sport-touring.net, a motorcycle rally to Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, PA will take place this weekend. Currently 75 bikes from 6 states are expected. Could this be the start of the next big gathering of bikers?
More Booker helmet photo analysis
Megamunch has done further analysis on the picture of Eric “Badlands” Booker wearing a helmet. The photograph with the helment and without the helment are exactly the same except for Booker’s head. The odds that large areas of two pictures taken at different times would be exactly the same are miniscule, but other unlikely things have happened at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub.
