Mashed.com has a post about Bar Louie's "Rock the Tot" competition in which all locations held a tater tot eating contest each year from 2008 to 2017. The article does not mention that the chain filed for bankruptcy in 2020 and closed a third of its restaurants.
Bar Louie announced today that it is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after closing 38 of its 110 locations. The gastropub chain was the site of a "Rock the Tot" tater tot eating contest from 2009 to 2017.
The Palm Beach Post has an interview with Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Sam Young in which he recounts his victory at a Rock the Tot tater tot eating contest held at a Bar Louie location.
Bar Louie will hold its Rock the Tot tater tot eating contest on September 21. It is not clear if all locations will hold the contest, so check with your local restaurant before showing up.

The Weekender has a report on Dave "The Termite" Wood's victory in the national Bar Louie Rock the Tot tater tot eating contest last month. His total of 4 pounds 2 ounces will be recognized as a Guinness World Record even though Molly Schuyler ate 6 pounds in 2013.

The Cleveland Leader reports that Molly Schuyler's defense of her national Rock the Tot title in Cleveland October 25 is in doubt due to the lack of Bar Louies in northern California. Local contests will be held on October 9 and the highest amounts of tater tots eaten will advance to the finals.
RockTheTot.com has been updated with information about a 2014 contest. Bar Louie locations will hold a tater tot eating contest on October 9 and the top 5 will compete in the finals in Cleveland on October 25.
