John from Ashton, PA finished the Great Steak Challenge (weight 74 oz) at Steak and Main in North East, MD in 13 minutes yesterday.
Sayler's in Portland has uploaded a clip from a recent Japanese television program where female competitive eater Sachiyo Masubuchi faced off against Danny in a 72 ounce steak eating contest.

Fastest finishers of 70+ oz steak challenges

Bob Shoudt finished the Great Steak Challenge at Steak and Main in North East, MD in 12 minutes yesterday to set the men’s record. Here are the fastest times for finishing an official restaurant steak challenge with a precooked meat weight of 70 or more ounces that I have been able to find. Please let me know if I am missing any document challenges with a time of 12 minutes or less.

Steak & Main announces that Molly Schuyler will receive $1000 if she breaks her record of 3:22 for the Steak & Main steak challenge during Wing Bowl 25.
Steak and Main announces that Molly Schuyler will attempt their steak challenge at Wing Bowl 25. She currently holds the record for that challenge at 3:22 and her overall best time for a 70+ oz steak is 2:44 at Sayler's in Portland.
Yesterday, former Detroit Lions head coach Steve Mariucci talked about how Andy Reid finished a 40 ounce steak challenge at Prime Quarter in 19 minutes while they were Green Bay Packers assistant coaches. (Mariucci needed 30 minutes) (Wall of Fame picture). In January, The Onion wrote an article titled ("Andy Reid Furious At Self For Poor Clock Management At End Of 72-Oz. Steak Challenge").
City Journal has an account of the Amarillo Opera's meal at the Big Texan where a Croatian tenor attempted the 72 ounce steak challenge.

Gawker.com competitive eating content

Last week Gawker Media sold its websites: Gawker.com (gossip), Deadspin.com (sports), Jezebel.com (women), Kotaku.com (video games), etc. to Univision after declaring bankrputcy following the loss of an invasion of privacy lawsuit filed by WWE legend Hulk Hogan for posting a sex tape without his permission. While the bulk of Gawker Media’s competitive eating content was posted on Deadspin, which will remain in operation, there were a few competitive eating articles on Gawker.com, which will shut down today (the fate of the Gawker archives are not clear):

CFO.com has an article about Kurt Schmidt, who ate a 240 ounce prime rib at Black Otter Supper Club in Milwaukee in 2 and a half hours. He appeared on the Travel Channel progam "Big Beef Paradise".
The Blossom Festival will hold a 64 ounce steak eating contest in Magnolia, AR on May 20 awarding $500 to the winner.
The Big Texan facebook has a video of Molly Schuyler recorded yesterday. She expects to return in May or June for a third faceoff against the 72 ounce steak and hopes to face "Furious" Pete Czerwinksi or "LA Beast".

The times for all three challenges were 4:18, 7:29 and 8:13. All three times broke Joey Chestnut’s previous record of 8:52. Her times from 2014 (4:58 & 9:59) giver her 5 of the 7 sub 10-minute finishes. Former MLB pitcher Frank Pastore (RIP) has the other (9:30 from 1987)

This morning, Molly ate a 9.5 burrito on Kiss FM to giver her a total of over 22 pounds of food consumed in 15 hour (before | after | video )

Rich and Carlene LeFevre did not compete against Molly despite being mentioned as a competing team.
