Jed Donahue in LA Times: Nathan’s to offer cash prizes

The Los Angeles Times has a column about Jed Donahue. If Jed makes the Nathan’s finals, he does not expect to repeat his one hot dog performance:

Donahue’s sampling, though limited, showed his fans that he’s going to change his strategy for the competition this July 4 at Coney Island, in which several thousand dollars in prizes will be offered. Last year, when the winning mark was 53 hot dogs, Donahue ate a total of … one.

Las Vegas episode of Beautiful Brian’s Corner

Brian Seiken has posted the latest episode of his television show, which features interviews with Las Vegas residents Ron “The Undertaker” Koch and El Toro. There is also a visit from Rabbi Abramawitz and a clip of sportsradio host Jim Rome (who has criticized Sonya Thomas, Joey Chestnut and Kate Stelnick) being attacked by former Rams quarterback Jim Everett.

Haaretz profile of Leon Feingold

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz has profiles of the first six players to sign a contract with the Israel Baseball League, including former competitive eater Leon Feingold:

Now that he has signed to play baseball in Israel next summer, Feingold will suspend his competitive eating career. “It’s more important for me right now to focus on getting my body in shape for baseball than to get my body into shape for eating,” he explains. However, he would agree to a between-inning falafel eating contest next summer − “as long as I’m not pitching that day.”

Leon “Justice” Feingold signs with Israel Baseball League

The Washington Jewish Week reports that Leon “Justice” Feingold has signed with the Israel Baseball League. Feingold has pitched in the Cleveland Indians organization and has been ranked as high as 12th by the IFOCE. The article claims his personal best is 152 hot dogs in 12 minutes, which should probably be 15 1/2 hot dogs.

Joe LaRue prepares for Sunrise qualifier at Cheeburger

Supersizedmeals.com reports that Joe LaRue ate 3 burgers containing 20 ounces of precooked meat at Cheeburger Cheeburger. The total weight of all burgers was about five pounds and Joe finished them in about 40 minutes. Finishing one burger that size entitles the eater to put a picture of him/herself on the restaurant’s Wall of Fame. Joe LaRue will attempt to defend his home turf at the first Nathan’s qualifier in Sunrise Florida on Saturday.
