Philly2Philly has a report on yesterday's wing eating contest at Buckeye Tavern in Macungie Borough. Martin "The Rooster" Russo won the contest with a total of 178 wings in 30 minutes. Bill "El Wingador" Simmons ate 32 meatballs in a minute at the event, reportedly a world record.

Pop's Beef in Palos Heights, IL (Chicago area) will hold a hot dog eating contest on July 3 awarding $500 to the winner.
Smoke Daddy's in Lansdale, PA (Philadelphia area) will hold a "Monsters of Pork" rib eating contest on June 26 awarding between $350 and $875. The first place prize will be between $200 and $500.

Drinker's West in Philadelphia will hold a taco eating contest on Sunday awarding $529 to the winner. Could this be the contest debut for Lisel Parillon, one of two finishers of Drinker's taco challenge? (via Lorrie G)
Joey Chestnut's victory at Dorney Park was not the only cheesesteak news this weekend. Takeru Kobayashi went to Tony Luke's and dined with Bill "El Wingador" Simmons. Another Philadelphia cheesesteak pilgrimage was made when Paul Wozniak went to Jim's Steaks to pay homage to his mother in law Lynda Kuerth eating 11 sandwiches in 1978 to set the house record, since broken by Bob Shoudt. He wore Lynda's 30+ year old Jim's Steaks T-shirt to the restaurant. (An article from 1978 mentioning the feat)

update 2:10 Thomas V Marino has a picture of a victorious Joey Chestnut. Bob Shoudt was apparently the runner-up. Marino also has a picture of Badlands Booker competing in the contest despite being announced as a participant in the Patriots Place Nathan’s qualifier.

The contest should start at 1:30 pm eastern.

Chickie's & Pete's, site of the Wing Bowl weigh-ins, will hold a pizza eating contest for charity on May 21 awarding $1000 (or a Bermuda cruise) to the winner and $500 to the runner up. Entrants will need to raise $500 in ticket sales or donations.
